I specialize in supporting people who are experiencing challenges with depression, anxiety, relationships, sexual identity, gender identity, substance use, and men's issues.
When was the last time you felt TRULY happy? Are you feeling overwhelmed by life? Have past traumas left you feeling stressed and anxious? Or maybe you're on a journey to better understand yourself and find lasting happiness. If any of this resonates with you, I can help. As a Taiwanese American who immigrated to the United States at a young age, I know firsthand the struggles faced by individuals from AAPI and immigrant communities. I also recognize the unique challenges the LGBTQ community faces, and I'm committed to creating a safe and inclusive environment for all my clients.

As hu man beings we learn, develop meaning, and create a sense of purpose through each other and the relationships we form. In the same spirit I believe the therapeutic process is driven by the relationship formed between the client and the therapist. This is why my approach in therapy is guided by the question - "How can I provide a relationship which this person may use for their personal growth?" I strive to create an empathic, nonjudgmental atmosphere where you feel safe and empowered to work toward personal growth and creating lasting change; forming trust and leaning toward vulnerability.

I have experience working with a wide range of concerns such as anxiety, depression, family conflict, neurodivergence, low self-esteem, peer/interpersonal relationships, attachment, and emotional management in adults and adolescents.
No one has a perfect childhood. Early stressors, abuse, and neglect can continue to have profound effects on all of us and can manifest as depression, anxiety, anger, and low-self esteem. As we continue through life, enduring pain and distress, we often learn to suppress our emotions and neglect our needs in order to get by. My goal in therapy is to provide a supportive space that belongs to you, in which you may share as much as you are willing and at a pace that you are comfortable with. While working together, I aim to help you undo old ways of being and to help you begin fostering a more compassionate relationship with yourself.

You are probably here because something has happened in life that has lead you to seek out support or guidance from a professional. Life can get complicated and there is no handbook on how to handle things like depression, anxiety, addiction and relationship problems. It is important to know two things: you are not alone and there are always hidden lessons in the most difficult moments of our lives. I specialize in teaching skills to help individuals manage stress and achieve balance in their life.

I am passionate about guiding my clients in understanding their history, behavior, personality, and how they navigate through the world. I think it is important to identify, provide empathic support, and find solutions to managing the difficulties of life. I also enjoy supporting youth and adults through their interpersonal challenges and exploring current and past stressors. I hope to find clients that I can support in this journey of self-exploration, healing, and self-efficacy.

Do you feel like you're never good enough? Or maybe you're too much? Does it ever feel like no one gets you? I'm willing to bet that you often experience shame and are hard on yourself. Shame makes us believe something is wrong with us. We try to cover up and hide even though we desperately long to be seen, known, and loved. Shame thrives on secrecy. There is a risk that if we open ourselves up to others then we'll be judged and criticized, which can lead to more shame. Shame is universal and much of what we struggle with can be tied back to shame.

Being autistic means existing in a sometimes perplexing and frustrating world that largely caters much more to the neurotypical brain. Over time this can manifest in a host of issues, ranging from depression and anxiety to social isolation and loneliness. The good news is that your brain possesses hidden strengths and abilities that can more than make up for these supposed deficits. To this end, I use creative approaches to draw these skills out and teach my clients how to apply their strengths in the areas where they are struggling.

I specialize in sexual issues and persistent psychogenic pain. Both of these realms entail working through trauma, anxiety, grief, impulsivity, and depression. In sex therapy, I help clients grappling with issues around functioning, sexual shame, sexual trauma, impulsive behaviors, sex and porn "addictions," low and hyper-arousal issues - all from a sex-positive, kink/poly/bdsm-friendly stance. I also help couples navigate challenges in their intimate relationships. With chronic pain and discomfort, I help people change their relationship to the symptoms, which leads to drastic reduction and often elimination of symptoms.

Male Therapists

As a man, why might I want to see a male therapist?

There are many reasons a man might wish to work with a male therapist, including a degree of shared identity, which may help client and therapist connect to each other and allow for a more free-flowing discussion of issues that can be deeply personal. Some men may feel more comfortable talking to a male therapist about relationship concerns, the pressures they feel around the roles society and family place on men, career or job challenges, self-esteem, or anger problems. For some men who have not had a male role models in their lives, a good male therapist may be especially helpful.

How can I find out about a therapist’s experience treating men?

Individuals looking for treatment should feel comfortable directly asking a therapist about their history treating men overall and the issues that arise in therapy with men. A good therapist will be happy to discuss such matters as well as their educational background, approach to treatment, and how they think they can aid a prospective client. Prospective clients should also ask what the expectation is for treatment, and what the fee structure is, and whether and which insurance plans are accepted.

Can clients benefit from having a therapist of the same gender?

Therapy is not gender-specific, but some men as well as women feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and history with a male therapist. An individual may feel that they have to explain less background information and be on the same page more quickly, particularly when discussing gender-specific challenges, in the case of male clients. Some women have prior negative experiences with women that predispose them to prefer working with a male in therapy. That said, a good clinician can transcend most if not all gender concerns. Ultimately, the most important factor in therapy is the connection and trust the client is able to build with the practitioner.

Would a male therapist have specific training in treating men?

Generally, no. There are no certifications for treating men specifically, but there are continuing education classes that therapists may take that focus on treating men as a group. There are many therapists who focus on men and male issues in their treatment and therefore have experience and expertise in this domain.
