I am passionate about helping children and their parents experience "less stress and more success" in their daily lives. My client-centered approach includes play-based activities, CBT, stress-management and mindfulness training. I offer therapeutic parenting support to help families reach their goals. With over 25 years of experience, I still delight in helping my clients recognize and affirm their unique strengths and find positive, creative solutions to overcome the challenges they face.
I have specialized training in play-based and animal-assisted counseling, grief and loss, trauma/ abuse, school issues (academic, behavioral and social, ) and pet bereavement. My broad experience includes agency work, school mental health, military family advocacy/ counseling , private practice and teacher/parent training.
With an accepting, creative approach I strive to view the child's (or parent's) world as they see it. I help children see themselves as uniquely lovable and capable human beings while increasing emotional literacy and building coping skills so that they can manage current and future problems more confidently and effectively.
