I am currently seeing people in my office and virtually over zoom. I specialize in parenting issues, anger management and spiritual issues. I provide support to men and fathers as they strive to become the best version of themselves. I tend to work with a lot of men who are former athletes. My background as a former high school and college athlete seems to serve our connection. The men who come see me want help in figuring out ways to channel their aggression in a healthier way and tend to be self reliant and often have a hard time asking for help.

I have an extensive background in clinical work with families, crisis intervention, parenting, school-based practices, and childhood abuse/maltreatment, though I now work solely with young adults/adults, who struggle with mood and anxiety-related disorders, depression, anger management, codependency, self-esteem, and trauma-related issues.
My mission is to empower, support, and help navigate an individual’s life transitions, through an unbiased, trustworthy, gentle lens. I provide the highest quality of behavioral and evidence-based therapeutic practices while incorporating a wholesome, humanistic approach that ultimately creates a strong and healthy sense of self in my clients. Focus is an incredibly powerful tool that grows exponentially. I will help you transition your focus rooted in fear and distress to one of safety, strength, and empowerment, with the ultimate goal of alleviating psychological and emotional distress.

In addition to the above issues, I have worked at length with those who want to control their anger.
Often people who come to therapy have already been struggling for some time: a feeling or way of thinking, relationship concerns, feeling overloaded with work or school, a particular loss or trauma, or just a general sense that something is wrong. You may know what you need, or may be unsure if psychotherapy can help at all. This is where therapy begins. I will work with you to develop a plan of action; if we can't come up with a plan that works for you within our first few meetings, I will connect you with someone who can.

In addition to treating depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, anger, workplace difficulties, and life stage complexities, I am skilled at working with people who are caught in that place between two cultures and often feel lost there.
My purpose is to help individuals and groups become empowered to emerge as better versions of themselves, who are better able to reach their own goals. Healing and growth takes place in a safe and secure environment where we can cooperatively seek to understand your challenges and who you are in relation to them. I work well with adolescents, emerging adults, and established yet struggling adults.

I work creatively with clients. Maybe you are stressed out. Maybe your relationship is totally 'stuck.' I look freshly at problems whether you have red-hot anger; are dealing with affairs, or you're reacting from past trauma. We use your strengths while problem-solving. I've lived and raised my children in Cambridge, MA, Spain and Cuba. I enjoy the diversity of working with LGBTQ and trans-national families. I support adult students who balance social needs with a heavy workload. We practice compassion, focusing on goals. Is therapy work? Definitely. Is there support available? Yes. In Spanish we say- vale la peña -it is worth it.

Are you a diamond in the rough? I provide social psychologically informed therapy that looks concentratedly at each client's various emotions in context, how and why emotions arise in relationships and what they have to tell us. I help clients look at their complex feelings related to self, break ups, loss of connection, and unresolved grief or anger, and their positive feelings. I try to help clients persist at these times to discover unrealized strengths, better connections. I work with a sense of humor, realism and practicality. I hope my clients can feel secure and increasingly present, and make smarter, more conscious choices.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
