Do you feel overwhelmed? Do you overthink? Do you treat your mind as a vault of secrets and emotions that are hurting you? The journey of life is full of ups and downs. There is no way to predict what may happen or how those experiences may impact you. The things we experience are not always easy to communicate with others and sometimes we do not want to be in fear of being judged. Therapy can help you navigate through life when unexpected trauma resurfaces, when change feels scary, or any issues that cause your emotions to become imbalanced.

Ideally, I'd treat clients with a trauma history. Someone with a mixture of short and long term trauma. My ideal client is eager to learn and wants to find a way to become their own safe space. Someone who wants to learn how to set and maintain healthy boundaries, find out their triggers, and treat themselves with patience.

Anxiety, OCD and trauma show up in many ways. Chronic self doubt or uncertainty has you overthinking the "what ifs" like letting people down, making mistakes, contamination or causing harm. You may feel tense, scattered, procrastinate tasks, be easily frustrated or get stuck when stressed. You're sick of spending life in your head battling obsessive thoughts, losing time engaging in compulsive, repetitive behaviors (like checking, counting etc) just to feel certain. You want to learn how to be present and let go. I specialize in anxiety, OCD and trauma to help you overcome fear, find peace and be confident to live life beyond worry!

One thing I know: the quality of our relationships impacts our mental health. That’s why I work with individuals, couples, and families to explore the relationships with those that matter most in their lives. I bring a warm, nonjudgmental approach to sessions and can support you in finding where you might want to try something new to step out of the usual patterns that keep you stuck.

Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked in educational settings and with incarcerated youth. During that time, I observed a significant lack of resources in many communities. I’ve come to understand that attuning to our mental health and addressing our needs is crucial for our daily functioning. When our mental health needs are unmet, it affects how we engage with ourselves and the world around us. Recognizing and addressing these needs is essential for overall well-being and effective personal development.

I am passionate about working with children, teens, and adults who have experienced trauma. I enjoy helping them honor their survival, address the struggle and feelings that have come out of it, and work towards healing. I also work with people who are going through life transitions, big or small. My clients come looking for comfort, a safe place to share without judgement, and to learn about how their experiences may impact their life in ways they may not have realized. I help my clients cultivate hope for the future.

Hi there, I’m Britney Lamp, LCPC! As a licensed therapist working in the field for the last 14 years I have grown to understand that therapy is so much more than just helping individuals address concerns or issues in their lives. I believe that therapy is about helping someone become the best version of themselves authentically.

Hello! My name is Heather Williams. I'm a Clinical Social Worker with over thirty years' experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate difficult situations. My approach is solution focused. Clients often feel better after the first session. I often give simple behavioral homework based on our discussions, so that you can experiment with changes that will help you move forward. My focus is on your strengths, and on finding the solution to your problems, rather than on focusing on the past. As a cognitive-behavioral therapist, I also help you understand the connection between your feelings and thoughts.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
