My counseling practice centers around helping individuals and couples who have experienced sexual trauma and/or brokenness in any of its various forms. Whether it be due to past abuse, recent infidelity, or a history of sexual, physical and emotional betrayal and trauma, I consider it a privilege to walk with clients into the darkness of their stories. Through the therapy process, I help you to build self-awareness, transform negative patterns of thinking, establish healthy boundaries, improve quality of relationships, and to achieve overall wellness. I consider the most valuable element of therapy as the genuine relationship between therapist and client.

We all struggle sometimes, but ongoing issues can leave us exhausted, isolated, confused, discouraged... If your days or nights are hard to get through, if you can't seem to settle down or stop overthinking, if life feels scary or you don't know what to do, if you never feel good enough or can't seem to 'get over' or 'stop doing' x, I'd love to talk with you. My experience is broad, but my practice is largely focused on anxiety & stress disorders, relational trauma, chronic & terminal illnesses, and healthy coping/decision making during life transitions.

Over half of my work is with couples. Through training and supervision in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), I can see and hear needs and feelings long hidden for fear of being hurt again. I empathize and acknowledge real wrongs and real emotional damage to trust and respect. I hear both sides. I also offer hope. I can see when marital conflict itself offers evidence that partners still desire and need each other. I know how difficult a process forgiveness and then trust building really are. I am a licensed clinical social worker who practices both individual and couples therapy. I have extensive experience working with client's from diverse backgrounds. My training as a social worker has given me the understanding of how both childhood and current life circumstances impact people. I work to assist client's in understanding how they deal with these problems. My goal is never to provide answers for people, but to help people to understand themselves so that they can function and operate independently of their conflicts and problems.

My name is Rebecca Ehrke and I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, Certified EMDR therapist and practice owner of Lifestream Integrative Healing Center. I chose the name, "Lifestream", from the concept of the "stream of life" that Peter Levine refers to in Somatic Experiencing. When someone experiences a traumatic event, it can disrupt the flow of their life path. Lifestream Integrative Healing Center offers holistic trauma treatment that helps individuals heal and return to the lives they were innately meant to have.

What I have found that brings people to therapy is a tension between two things, which is often an internal feeling and something that is happening in life. Sometimes this becomes so overwhelming that it feels as though we are drowning in decisions and feelings. Often it is our unconscious complexes and attachments that constellate this type of energy. I practice in-depth psychotherapy with a Jungian influence. This type of therapy is unstructured and long-term, which allows for space and flexibility for the healing process to occur.
