To try to prevent it from continuing or repeating, I look for patterns across your relationships with family, people in your current life and our relationship as it develops.
Trust and a sense of safety are necessary foundations for successful therapy. Yet they don't come automatically. They have to be built and earned over time. I respect the tremendous courage it takes to face up to deeply buried or avoided thoughts and feelings. I work best with people who take their therapy seriously and are curious about finding new ways of thinking about themselves and others in their lives. I use insight oriented therapies as well as mindfulness to help us stay in the moment. My approach is tailored individually to your needs. Recently I added EMDR and some IFS to my work.

Let's work it out together. Most of us struggle from time to time with relationship questions, parenting conundrums, career decisions or even the loss of someone or something of great significance to us. Over the years, I've come to respect the value of sharing these struggles with a sensitive professional. I am here to help you explore how better to manage the obstacles that stand in your way. Working with individuals, couples, families and groups, I enjoy helping people come to a better understanding of how to work through the challenges in their lives.

I have specialized training and expertise in working with: gender, sexuality, poly/non-monogamy, kink, complex trauma, self-esteem, relationships, relationship conflict, depression, anxiety, queer and trans youth, coming out and issues related to biculturalism, bilingualism, acculturation, and trauma and loss related to migration.
Collaborative by nature, I aim to provide a caring and safe space where you feel validated, valued, and are open to explore new parts of yourself. My understanding of personal change and growth is grounded in both psychodynamic and systems theories. Together, we focus on how some of your early history may inform your present challenges while also acknowledging the impact of the familial, institutional, and cultural systems in which you live. In addition, I believe that a consistent sense of curiosity and authentic presence with you, where multiple meanings can be explored, is paramount to growth-promoting and healing therapy.

Amidst the chaos of modern living, making sense of life itself rarely feels linear; our work is to begin to connect the dots so you can claim sole authorship over your story and begin today to write the chapters of your life to come. Whether you're starting out or starting anew, this work demands courage. In the face of fear and the unknown, take heart: working with me, you will be hard-pressed to find someone more interested in understanding your side of things, or someone who more readily tells it like it is. My style is empathic, encouraging, and grounded in insight-driven exploration of self-in-context and relationship dynamics.

My clinical focus is helping adults with Anxiety, relationship concerns, and life stressors, often with people who have complicated family dynamics.
My approach to therapy is geared towards both developing insight as well as finding ways to promote healing and growth. In session, we often work to develop a deeper understanding of ourselves and the patterns that permeate our lives. Depending on your goals, we may also incorporate mindfulness or other somatic practices to help promote nervous system regulation. Therefore, sessions can flexibly move between exploratory, experiential, or solution-focused.

Relationship Issues Therapists
While need for human connection appears to be innate, the ability to form healthy, loving relationships is learned. Some evidence suggests that the ability to form a stable relationship starts to form in infancy, in a child's earliest experiences with a caregiver who reliably meets the infant's needs for food, care, warmth, protection, stimulation, and social contact. Such relationships are not destiny, but they are theorized to establish deeply ingrained patterns of relating to others. The end of a relationship, however, is often a source of great psychological anguish.
