I help clients who are experiencing anxiety, ADHD, self-esteem issues, grief, women's issues, trauma and PTSD to heal deeply.
Do you feel stuck, despite being highly self-aware? Have you tried talk therapy before and it felt nice to vent, but it didn’t really create the transformation or deep healing and relief from anxiety you were looking for? I help millennial women like you by using a holistic approach to therapy. I combine EMDR therapy, art therapy, IFS therapy and somatic practices like nervous system regulation to heal at the root of your issues, discover what you want out of life, and create lasting changes. I also offer EMDR Intensives for those who want to heal NOW and don't want to spend months or even years in the traditional therapy model.

Transitions are triggers, and when you are in the midst of a major life transition, it is easy to lose yourself. As a parent, you may struggle to balance your own needs with the demands of parenting. Women's issues, such as gender roles and expectations, can add an extra layer of complexity. How do you cope when others are asking for so much from you?

I am particularly attuned LGBTQ+ and women's issues.
Life today can create a chronic sense of overwhelm resulting from constant stimulation and expectations. It may feel difficult to keep up with the pressure to maintain productivity, composure, and a steady sense of self. The therapeutic space can serve as a place to explore these anxieties and release yourself from external pressures. Our symptoms can arise out of the conflict between what we feel we are expected to be vs. who we really are. I work with children, teens, and adults and I am dedicated to hearing my clients in way that can alleviate suffering and promote long-lasting change.

I am a therapist, focused on women's issues, who can help you bring joy, strength and tranquility into your life. I believe that all women have an enormous amount of inner strength which often gets lost as we take on the roles of mother, wife, caregiver, partner, and provider. As women, we often give so much of ourselves that our spirit and energy can get squashed leaving us feeling depressed and anxious.

I believe that a good relationship with my clients is a necessary precondition to good therapy. I balance compassion and acceptance with a firm, challenging stance. After all, we don't grow from sitting in our comfort zones! My areas of expertise include treating eating, weight, and body image issues, mood and anxiety disorders, and helping people through difficult life transitions. While women's issues are a specialty, I have worked with clients with a range of gender identifications and I aim to provide gender affirming care. My clients are diverse by age, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, race, and ethnicity.

Women's Issues Therapists

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.

How can women prepare for therapy?

Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.

How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?

As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.

How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?

Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
