Se habla español. Struggling individuals need to know that someone cares, that a new day will come, and that there are principles available to help them recover and rebuild. As a Christian Counselor (Pastoral) and Life Coach, I utilize a biblical foundation to guide you. Whether you're a pastor who needs counseling for yourself, the whole family, a single mother, a non-churchgoer, a widowed father, a divorcee, etc. there is hope! Don't bear life’s difficulties alone, even if you have had a moral, spiritual, or emotional collapse. Results vary, but most of my clients see great change with 1-3 sessions when they're ready for change!

You were brought up to talk a certain way, live a certain way, look a certain way and love a certain way. But deep down, you don't believe much of that anymore. So, you hide. You don't want to be a disappointment to your friends & family. The constant pushing down of your beliefs, thoughts, and feelings is killing you and getting harder and harder to keep from spilling onto every part of your life. I help millennials dig out from under the mess. To accept & celebrate all aspects of their identities and to improve their relationships both in and out.

My experience has prepared me to work with body image issues, crises, self-harm, suicide ideation, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, interpersonal issues, grief, coping skills, religious trauma, disordered eating, and LGBTQIA+ matters. I specifically have a heart for clients who are navigating and processing their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I also love supporting individuals who are working through religious trauma or concerns. I have deep understanding and empathy for how difficult it can be to navigate personal growth through the lens of changing or leaving behind belief systems, cultures, and communities.

One way to characterize Life is by acknowledging its inherent complexity and challenges. Whether in its most beautiful moments or its darkest hours, Life often proves intricate and demanding. With each new chapter, we encounter novel experiences, emotions, and opportunities that test our abilities. There's no universal solution to effortlessly navigate this journey; we must adapt and learn as we progress. If you find yourself here reading these words, consider it a gentle reminder that you're not alone. You don't have to walk this path in solitude. Together, we can face life's trials.

When overwhelmed individuals, seek counseling for various reasons--to improve their lives, find balance, solve a particular problem, gain understanding of themselves and others, or work on specific areas of concern such as: self-esteem, anxiety, stress management, anger, grief/loss, relationship concerns, family conflict, and/or general life transitions. I emphasize a collaborative counseling environment, built on trust, safety, and compassion. I incorporate a variety of counseling theories, techniques and modalities to reach the client's potential and goals.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
