As a therapist, my passion is helping people - especially those who feel overwhelmed by life, confused, lacking in the tools to feel fulfilled and comfortable.I was born and raised in Dallas. I have the specialties and training listed on this page, but more than that, I have the life experience to relate and help. I’ve been through this, I’ve seen it, and I can help you deal with all the bad (and all the good!) things you’re going through. I am so proud of my blended family of six wonderful and amazing young women. I love spending time with my family, reading, taking my dogs on hikes, biking, running… being outside in general!

Neuropsychological evaluations can be helpful at any age. If you are struggling with your thinking abilities (attention, memory, or executive functioning), you may benefit from diagnostic clarity (is it ADHD? do I have dementia?). Testing can identify a pattern of cognitive strengths and weaknesses and help guide in treatment planning.

Do you find yourself at a crossroads and in need of some support? While change can be scary it can also offer new opportunities for growth and insight. Transitions can light up the unhealed parts of us, and make it difficult to discern our truth from the stories we’ve been told about who others think we are. My role in this is to help you discern what you want to take with you along the way and explore with you what’s standing in the way of you living your most authentic life.

Transition is often hard. Adjusting between being independent and being in a relationship, adjusting from a school career to a professional career, adjusting to a new sexual or gender identity or simply adjusting to the reality and responsibilities of being an independent adult. Despite often times feeling intelligent and capable, feelings of being stuck, depression and anxiety seem to get the best of you in this present moment. Transition can cause one to question one's self identity and self worth. There are approaches to adapt to these changes and create a more meaningful approach to identity and life.

I enjoy working with adult individuals and couples in psychotherapy. Many of the individual clients I see are working through relationship issues (past or present), whether originating from family of origin, romance, friendships or the workplace. I frequently train individual and corporate clients in stress management practices. I have specialized training in working with clients struggling with acute or chronic health conditions. I like to help clients become their own advocates in management of their medical conditions. I believe knowledge is power and a great antidote to fear and depression.

The best part of being a therapist is being able to walk with a person as they explore their own personal growth and get through some of the most challenging parts of their life. I have the pleasure of helping by educating with tools and strategies that can be helpful along the way. I enjoy working with individuals as they learn to be their best selves and operate in the world they currently live in regardless of what that looks like. When working with clients I like to have a strengths-based focus as well as a holistic approach that considers the whole picture that can help with the overall wellness of the individual.

Tell me your story; I'm here to help. I've heard hundreds of stories over many years of working with adults, teens and families from different backgrounds. I understand that mental health isn’t in the mind alone, but part of a system that includes physical, emotional and relational well-being. My clients often struggle with trauma, anxiety or have experienced loss. Many find it hard to be vulnerable. Relationships struggle, daily life hurts, and traditional approaches to healing just don’t seem to help.

Hi, I'm Quoqueze, a therapist for the past 17 years. I understand that life hits us all differently. And everyone has experienced things that challenges their belief in their value or abilities. As a therapist, I am here to walk along side my clients as they learn to confidently navigate these challenges so it's not so lonely and overwhelming. I help clients re-build their confidence in themselves. In doing so, they unlearn maladaptive behaviors, increase in self-awareness and self-love, learn helpful tools to improve problem-solving skills, build resilience, and tap into the peace, courage, and confidence that had been diminished.

My ideal client is one primarily motivated for change. I'm not an "ah huh, mmmm, I see" therapist. I am very active in sessions so my client wants honest, direct feedback and education on issues and new skills for more success. I am also patient, seasoned and aware that fear and habits make change hard, so I offer significant support and positive encouragement. My therapy involves Cognitive/Behavioral techniques meaning: understanding you "head chatter" and skills to decrease or make more positive (often driven by anxiety), and changing or creating "actions" that increase positive results and confidence.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
