Welcome! I'm Vitalina, an LMFT Associate in the State of Taxes. I work with couples, and Individuals. In my sessions, I create a warm, empathetic, and nonjudgmental atmosphere where clients feel safe to explore their deepest concerns. I work with anxiety, depression, maternity issues, conflicts, boundaries, self-esteem, childhood trauma, and codependency. As a first-generation immigrant, I am particularly keen to work with individuals who, like me, have had to build or rebuild their lives from scratch. I lived in Europe and the Middle East, which helped me to work well with the clients from multicultural environments.

Accepting new clients online only in WA state and TX. Often mental health issues manifest from unresolved trauma, unrecognized fear, and/or shaming messages which result in an inability to live joyfully. I approach life's dilemmas through existential and spiritual lenses to find hope and meaning through suffering and by increasing awareness and potential for choice and being. I enjoy helping people explore their authentic selves by asking the question, “What do I want my life to look like?” Integrating the answers with spiritual, emotional, physical, and social aspects of their beings, I help others to live a more fulfilling life.

Greetings, my name is Julie Peterson, and I would love the opportunity to brighten your family's life. Understandably, life can be challenging at times, so let's work together through those times. Healing and growing come from working together towards a common goal. Over the past 25 years, I have worked as a social worker with children and their families. My experience ranges from working with children as young as four to adult clients. Children are my specialty, but I'm willing to use my skills to help anyone.

Do you have persistent memories of something that happened to you a long time ago? Does something that someone said to you still echo in your mind? Do you feel the grip of anxiety nearly all the time, and have found very few healthy things that can make that anxiety stop? You are not alone, and I have helped many people that have experienced very similar things. This tragically is a very common problem, and there is not a pharmaceutical long-term answer for any of it. That is because it is not a biological problem. It may be a journey that takes time and really hard work to resolve.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
