My experience has prepared me to work with body image issues, crises, self-harm, suicide ideation, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, interpersonal issues, grief, coping skills, religious trauma, disordered eating, and LGBTQIA+ matters. I specifically have a heart for clients who are navigating and processing their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. I also love supporting individuals who are working through religious trauma or concerns. I have deep understanding and empathy for how difficult it can be to navigate personal growth through the lens of changing or leaving behind belief systems, cultures, and communities.

This crazy journey we call life can be wonderful and beautiful but it can also be scary and hard. It can make you feel lost, and overwhelmed, and sometimes it can make you feel stuck. I know how much anxiety comes with trying to get yourself out of that alone. Therapy can be anything you need it to be. It can be a safe space to release and understand some pretty scary emotions. It can be a place where you come to feel heard. In the counseling room, I work to instill hope and increase self-esteem while clients learn to improve their relationships to help them flourish in their daily lives.

Areas of specialty include men's issues, substance abuse, addictions, self esteem issues, couples work, father/son relationships, dysfunctional family of origin work, anger resolution therapy, relapse prevention, physical/sexual/ verbal/ emotional abuse, and trauma/ post traumatic stress.
I take a very down-to-earth approach to counseling. By focusing on what is real and the truth of one's experiences, I encourage my clients to participate in their own recovery processes and to develop new behaviors that produce new results and better solutions. It is my personal belief that as a society we have developed a dysfunctional lifestyle based on fantasy and myth. We act on these false beliefs every day, keeping us stuck in old, immature patterns of reactionary behavior, instead of responding to life's challenges as adults.

Se habla español. Struggling individuals need to know that someone cares, that a new day will come, and that there are principles available to help them recover and rebuild. As a Christian Counselor (Pastoral) and Life Coach, I utilize a biblical foundation to guide you. Whether you're a pastor who needs counseling for yourself, the whole family, a single mother, a non-churchgoer, a widowed father, a divorcee, etc. there is hope! Don't bear life’s difficulties alone, even if you have had a moral, spiritual, or emotional collapse. Results vary, but most of my clients see great change with 1-3 sessions when they're ready for change!

— Offering EMDR Intensives! Perfect for if you're short on time but need relief. Did you know there is a formula to these profiles? I’m supposed to try to “hook” you in. The problem is, the clients I love to work with hate that kind of gimmick. If you’re like my clients, you don’t want to be sold to– you crave genuine connection. You want to be truly seen. That’s what I offer: a place where you don’t have to pretend to be perfect anymore, a therapeutic relationship where you are prioritized, and the feeling of finally being able to breathe again. No matter where you are in life, it's never too late to live wholeheartedly.

Self Esteem Therapists

When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?

When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.

What are the signs of low self-esteem?

Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.

What causes low self-esteem?

Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.

How can therapy improve self-esteem?

Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
