Quaker Valley Wins on KDKA’s Hometown High Q

Quaker Valley's Hometown High Q Team was successful in their attempt to qualify for KDKA's Hometown High Q Playoffs by winning their first-round matchup which aired on March 12. Hometown High Q is an academic challenge hosted by KDKA meteorologist Ray Petelin.

The Quaker Valley team earned 485 points, defeating Wheeling Central Catholic and Elizabeth Forward High Schools. This is the 8th year of the last nine that Quaker Valley has qualified for the Hometown High Q Playoffs!  The team is comprised of seniors Patrick Munn, Grant Huddleston, Hayden Earlewine, Mary Pangburn, Jacob Boone, Michael Lipton, and Wyatt Riker.  The team is coached by high school math teacher Matt Welch and assisted by academic specialist Linda Conlon. Quaker Valley will participate in the High Q Playoffs this Spring. The air date of the playoff episode is not yet known but will be published when the schedule becomes available. Congratulations to the QV Team!
