If cleaning the bathroom, kitchen, and window panes feels like a workout, we have just the tool for you. The electric scrubber can get into grimy nooks and crannies and clean them in a fraction of the time it would take with a cloth or sponge—with no extra effort required from you.

There are many variations of this handy tool, some with extendable handles for hard-to-reach spots, others with several different attachment heads to handle every task. Not all electric scrubbers are worthy of your consideration, though. In fact, some are rather ineffective and a waste of money, so we tested 15 different models to come up with the best eight.

We tried the scrubbers out on an array of grubby tasks, testing out all the functions and attachments each model offered, and evaluated each tool’s performance, efficiency, ease of use, and overall value for money. We also spoke to Ryan Knoll, owner of professional home cleaning service Tidy Casa, for expert advice on what to look for when shopping for electric scrubbing brushes.

What Stands Out
  • Its comfortable grip pad, light weight, and effectiveness at cleaning tile and grout

What Could Be Improved
  • There’s only one power level.

Out of all the electric scrubbers we tested, the BLACK+DECKER Grimebuster Pro Power Scrubber Brush was our favorite, thanks to its ease of use, effectiveness, and reasonable price. What immediately stood out to us was the comfort level provided by its convenient and ergonomic handle grip. This ensured a comfortable hold during extended cleaning sessions, and we’re pleased to report absolutely no discomfort or arm fatigue.

Its well-thought-out design and seamless rotation minimizes strain on the hands when cleaning, and its powerful motor effortlessly lifted stains from surfaces with minimal arm movement required. Switching between scrub heads was also a breeze, as it has an intuitive and hassle-free attachment system that allows for quick changes without having to get your hands dirty; no cleaning solution or dirt leaked from the scrubber’s head to our hands during head changes. It comes with a bristle brush and a multipurpose sponge, which can handle most daily cleaning chores.

The device is well-made with a durable construction and comes with a wall-mounting charging stand so you can conveniently recharge and store it when it’s not in use. Although it only has one power level, this proved to be more than sufficient for successfully cleaning tile and grout, and when we applied extra pressure, the motor continued to function flawlessly. Even the bristles and sponge remained intact. Cleaning the scrub heads was a simple task as you can either submerge them in water and activate the scrubber for thorough and quick cleaning or pop them in the dishwasher.

Handle Length: 13 inches (whole tool) | Charge Time: Minimum of 12 hours to ensure full power | Battery Life: Varies | What’s Included: Scrubber, charging stand

What Stands Out
  • Its comfortable ergonomic rubber grip, efficient cleaning, and small price.

What Could Be Improved
  • It only comes with one scour pad; other attachments are sold separately.

If you’re on a budget but would still like a little extra help scrubbing, the BLACK+DECKER Power Scrubber Brush is an excellent option. This tool has a compact design with a rubber grip around the handle that provided comfortable operation, even during longer cleaning sessions. Despite its small size, the scrubber proved to have impressive cleaning power that trumps manual scrubbing methods by far.

During testing, we found this electric scrubber to be practical, with sufficient cleaning power for tile floors, giving them a thorough clean. The device is lightweight and easy to operate, even on higher walls with an outstretched arm. Although the scrubber comes with only one attachment variation—two heavy-duty scour pads—it's easy to switch out for other attachments, but you’ll have to purchase those separately.

We tested one of these extra attachments, the bristle brush, and found it to be a good, versatile cleaning tool that made grout lines gleam. However, we did notice that this head tended to splatter more than the scour pad. The scour pad, too, may wear out quickly with intense use, necessitating frequent replacements, but these are quite reasonably priced at around $12 for a five-pack. While it's not rechargeable and requires battery replacements (four AA batteries are included), we found that this electric scrubber offers exceptional value for money, ease of use, and cleaning efficiency.

Handle Length: 9.4 inches (whole tool) | Charge Time: None (battery operated) | Battery Life: Varies | What’s Included: Scrubber, 2 scrub pads, four AA batteries

What Stands Out
  • The size of the handle is convenient and comfortable, and it can tackle tough dirt and stains easily, even on high walls.

What Could Be Improved
  • There’s only one power level.

With its versatile design and powerful performance, the HattyRoom Rechargeable Cordless Electric Spin Scrubber offers up to 41.5 inches extra for accessing high or hard-to-reach areas that need a good clean. It’s great for reaching way up tiled walls in the bathroom and getting around the bathtub with ease. It comes with a range of attachments, including big and small flat brushes, a side brush for corners, and additional attachments for windows and waxing.

We found this tool comfortable to grip, with a handle girth that fits well in the hand, even though it doesn’t offer any padding or have a rubberized grip. It only has one power setting, which was effective on most surfaces and stains. That said, a little more power would have been appreciated.

The scrubber has a locking mechanism for adjusting the scrubbing head angle; this was easy to use and offered more flexibility for cleaning different surfaces. While the extendable length helped for walls, tiles, and bathtub cleaning, it fell slightly short when it was time to clean the bathroom floor. This will require some bending over, especially for taller users.

Handle Length: 19.6–41.5 inches | Charge Time: 3.5 hours | Battery Life: 90 minutes | What’s Included: Scrubber, extended handle, 5 cleaning brush heads

What Stands Out
  • Its rubber grip for easy handling, straightforward design with easy twist-on and -off head changes, and ability to get into even the smallest nooks and crannies.

What Could Be Improved
  • It somehow takes more time than a manual brush to thoroughly clean.

For a truly small electric scrubber to access tiny spaces like sideboard edges and the corners of floors, walls, and windows, we like the Rubbermaid Reveal Power Scrubber 18-Piece Kit. This thing can also tackle grout lines and gets into the edges around sinks and faucets effortlessly. It sports a simple design and comes with a bunch of attachments and accessories. These include an extra-large scrubber brush head, a soft bristle brush, a small grout brush (which was superb at reaching into smaller crevices and corners), a Velcro head, and several scrubber and microfiber pad refills. It also comes with four AA batteries.

The device is lightweight and has a comfortable rubberized grip that keeps it securely in your hand without any slippage. While using this scrubber, it proved much less tiresome than using a manual scrubbing brush, although it still took a while to really get the dirt off some surfaces. There aren’t many other perks to this affordable device, such as multiple intensities or an extendable handle, but it does provide 60 rotations per second, is water resistant, and is quite durable.

Changing out scrubber heads was easy, thanks to its straightforward twist-on and-off mechanism. We found the overall design of the scrubber intuitive and user friendly, and we didn’t need to closely study the manual to work out how to use it. After vigorous cleaning tasks, the bristles held up well, without significant fraying or damage, even when we applied more force. Cleaning the brush was also easy, as you just need to swirl the device in a bucket of water and wipe it with a cloth to remove any excess dirt or residue.

Handle Length: 11.6 inches (whole tool) | Charge Time: None (battery operated) | Battery Life: Varies | What’s Included: Scrubber, XL head, large head, soft bristle brush, grout brush, Velcro head, six scrubber pad refills, six microfiber pad refills, four AA batteries

What Stands Out
  • It has an ergonomic design and a comfortable silicone grip, and the durable bristles do not fray.

What Could Be Improved
  • It’s a little messy and doesn’t come with a softer brush for more delicate surfaces.

For tough stains and seriously grimy jobs, like scrubbing litter boxes or grill accessories, the IEZFIX Electric Spin Scrubber offers easy and detailed cleaning at a reasonable price. It has a durable construction and powerful motor, and it comes with a variety of brush attachments, including a flat cloth pad, flat brush, pointed corner brush, and dome brush. Designed to handle a wide range of cleaning tasks effectively, we found the brush to be comfortable to hold and carry around, even with extended use.

The handle has a comfortable silicone grip and evenly balanced weight distribution, with a slightly heavier head that provided added pressure to the dirty surface without us needing to put in the extra elbow grease. The scrubber’s brush attachments have firm bristles, and there’s only one extremely powerful intensity setting. While this offered excellent cleaning performance, its high speed also produced a significant amount of foam and splashed water and cleaning solution everywhere.

This compact and lightweight device managed to get deep into grout grooves and efficiently removed stubborn stains; however, it might be a little overkill for simpler, everyday tasks (cleaning up the foam residue that it accumulates might take longer than just manually scrubbing certain areas). The brush heads were impressive (although a soft bristle option would have been nice) and showed very minimal signs of wear even after diligent scrubbing. To clean the brush heads, simply rinse them off and let them air dry.

Handle Length: 16.5 centimeters | Charge Time: 3 hours | Battery Life: 90 minutes | What’s Included: Scrubber, dome brush, cone brush, flat brush, cloth brush and head, charging adapter

What Stands Out
  • Its rubber grips and thick circumference make it comfortable for extended use, and it has an easy attachment mechanism for the eight included brush heads.

What Could Be Improved
  • There’s only one power level, and the thick handle may be too large for those with smaller grips.

For a versatile option with many heads to choose from, the Klever Electric Spin Scrubber comes with eight different brushes for various surfaces. There are two umbrella brush heads for larger surface areas and messes, two straight brushes that are ideal for windows, and two flat brushes for things like grills, stoves, ovens, and sinks. It also comes with two handy corner brushes for getting into dirty crevices. While cleaning, we found the tool to have a user-friendly design that is ergonomic and comfortable to hold, thanks to its rubber comfort grips.

The width of the handle might be a little large for smaller hands, but we didn't have any discomfort while using it. Along with some Clorox, this electric scrubber effortlessly lifted away filth and tough stains. We particularly liked the convenient and easy twist-and-lock mechanism for attaching and detaching the brush head attachments. These stayed on securely the entire time. There’s only one speed setting, but this proved to have sufficient power for most cleaning tasks, and we never felt like we were losing control of the tool.

We found that it was easier to operate when we scrubbed in the same direction as the brush motion. The bristles remained intact and still looked new even after thorough use. We noted that the USB-C port cap, while a nice addition for protecting the charging port, is not permanently affixed to the device and could easily get lost. Cleaning the brush heads simply consisted of rinsing them under a sink faucet. In all, this is a great-value tool with multiple uses.

Handle Length: 8 inches | Charge Time: 3.5 hours | Battery Life: 90 minutes | What’s Included: Scrubber, two umbrella, two straight, two flat, and two corner brushes (one soft and one hard bristle)

Best With Dual Power Settings

Losuy Electric Spin Scrubber

What Stands Out
  • Its simple extension mechanism, comfortable grip, and two power settings.

What Could Be Improved
  • It could do with a handle at the end for additional support, and there’s no angle adjustment.

With two different power settings for various cleaning tasks, the Losuy Electric Spin Scrubber is a versatile tool that comes with plenty of brush heads for every job—seven to be exact, including big brushes, a sponge brush, and a tip brush. During our testing, we found the scrubber to be comfortable to use, thanks to its ergonomic design and non-slip plastic molding at the end of the handle. It doesn’t have a support handle at the top, however, which would have made it a little easier to hold.

Despite this, we found the scrubber easy to move around and operate, and it provided a quick and efficient cleaning experience, without us needing to kneel or bend over. This was largely due to the long handle, which has a simple extension mechanism that allowed for easy length adjustments with just a twist of the knob to lengthen or shorten the extension bar. This also made it good at reaching higher spots and tight corners.

The dual power setting offers both high and low speeds for added versatility, and we found both options to be helpful when cleaning floors. It was nice being able to switch between power levels based on the cleaning task we were faced with. The scrubber was able to reach all areas of the bathtub, but you can’t adjust the angle, which would have been a convenient perk.

Removing the brush heads is a straightforward process, requiring only thumb pressure or a gentle pull to detach them without making a mess. Overall, it’s a powerful, easy-to-use, and efficient option that can reach almost anywhere you need it to.

Handle Length: Adjustable at 12, 43, and 54 inches | Charge Time: 3–4 hours | Battery Life: 90 minutes | What’s Included: Scrubber, two extension rods, seven replaceable brush heads, wall hook, type-C fast charging cable, towel

What Stands Out
  • Its durability, versatility, and powerful single setting sufficient for thorough scrubbing without loss of control.

What Could Be Improved
  • It feels a bit heavy after extended use, and it’s quite pricey compared to some other options.

Heavy-duty tasks call for heavy-duty tools, so if you need more than a measly brush head to tackle the amount of cleaning you have to do, try the Ryobi ONE+ 18V Cordless Compact Power Scrubber Kit. Despite it having only one power level, this proved to be more than sufficient for effectively scrubbing dirty surfaces, but we never felt like we were losing control of the tool. The scrub brush adequately cleaned tile surfaces, reached into grout areas with ease, and got car tires sparkling.

This electric scrubber from top tool brand Ryobi features a soft rubber grip that was comfortable to hold and felt secure in the hand, even when things got wet and slippery. However, we did note that the weight, largely due to its battery, was more noticeable over extended periods. The tool essentially resembles a reconfigured cordless drill and feels like one, too. The scrubber allowed us to apply plenty of pressure without the brush slowing down, and the bristles maintained their strength and shape even after vigorous use.

When we were done, we found that dirt and water rinsed off the brush easily and required no additional cleaning. It is a little on the higher end of the price spectrum, so it might not be suitable if you don’t have to deal with copious amounts of grease and gunk. It’s definitely not the kind of tool you whip out for a daily bathroom clean, but its effectiveness, durability, and versatility make it suitable for various hardcore applications beyond kitchen and bathroom cleaning.

Handle Length: 29.5 inches (whole tool) | Charge Time: Under 1 hour | Battery Life: 120 minutes | What’s Included: Scrubber, 6-inch medium bristle brush, 2.0 Ah battery, charger

Final Verdict

We love the BLACK+DECKER Grimebuster Pro Power Scrubber Brush because it’s lightweight yet powerful, is comfortable to grip, and has a hassle-free attachment system. It was excellent at cleaning tile and grout. For a less-expensive option that rings in around $20, we recommend the tried and true BLACK+DECKER Power Scrubber Brush.

Our Testing Process

To come up with our list of the best electric scrubbers, we tested 15 different models in our Des Moines lab. We evaluated factors such as each product’s size, weight, construction, attachments, extra features, and power to determine its effectiveness, ease of use, and durability across various cleaning tasks. First, we assembled each electric scrubber, noting how easy or hard this was, and how clear the instructions were. Then we tried out all the different attachments and settings, assessing their efficiency and maneuverability in reaching and cleaning various areas of the bathroom.

We cleaned designated sections of tile floors using both manual and electric scrubbers, comparing their ease of use and cleaning efficiency. We also tried the scrubbers with and without a cleaning solution to see how this affected their performance. We assessed how well each electric scrubber cleaned grout and removed a mud mask from the floor, paying attention to bristle strength and precision. After we were done cleaning, we inspected the brush heads, noting any damage or signs of wear to the bristles before cleaning them thoroughly at a sink and noting how easy or hard it was to do so.

How to Shop for Electric Scrubbers Like a Pro

Brush Material and Hardness

When shopping for electric scrubbers, it's important to consider the hardness of the brush material. “Match the brush to the job,” Knoll says. Harder bristles are typically more effective at tackling tough stains and serious grime, particularly on surfaces like tile and grout. They may not be suitable, however, for more delicate surfaces or everyday cleaning tasks, as harder bristles can cause scratches or damage. Softer bristles, on the other hand, are gentler and ideal for more fragile surfaces like glass or acrylic.

Some electric scrubbers come with different attachments with both hard and soft bristles so you can choose the right one for the task at hand. “Versatility is key, so look for a scrubber that offers a range of brushes,” Knoll says. If your brush is getting a lot of wear and tear, look for brands that offer replacement brush heads as these will likely need to be changed out after a while.

Battery Life

Electric scrubbers are typically powered by rechargeable batteries, which are either built in and can be charged by USB cable or a power outlet, or removable and replaceable options, like AA or AAA batteries. These batteries are necessary to power the scrubbing action and have the added benefit of eliminating the need for cords, giving you greater mobility and flexibility during cleaning.

The life of each scrubber’s battery varies depending on the model, the intensity and frequency of use, and the size of the battery. Generally, electric scrubbers offer battery life ranging from 30 minutes to over an hour on a single charge. When it comes to choosing the right electric scrubber for you, a long battery life is always a good thing to look for. “Aim for a scrubber that offers a solid runtime per charge, so it doesn't quit on you halfway through the bathroom,” Knoll says.

Attachments

There are many different attachments available for electric scrubbers, each with its own intended use and benefits. In addition to soft- and hard-bristle brushes, some scrubbers come with flat brush heads, which are ideal for cleaning large flat surfaces like floors, countertops, and walls. Others include a corner brush for reaching and cleaning tight corners and edges where dirt and grime love to accumulate.

Grout brushes are also available, which are specifically designed to scrub grout lines between tiles. Other attachments include sponge brushes for gentle scrubbing and wiping on delicate surfaces like glass or ceramic, and upholstery brushes for cleaning fabric surfaces like sofas, chairs, and car interiors. You can also find scraper attachments for removing stubborn stains, dried-on dirt, or adhesive residue, and detail brush attachments with smaller heads for precision cleaning in smaller or more intricate areas, such as around fixtures, vents, or appliances.

Perhaps one of the most useful features to have on an electric scrubber is an extension wand or extendable handle. These will allow you to reach high or hard-to-access areas, such as ceilings, shower walls, or tall cabinets, without the use of a step stool or ladder. “Think about your space and what you'll be cleaning,” Knoll says. “Extendable handles are great for reaching high or awkward spots, and a variety of attachments mean you're ready for any surface.”

More Electric Scrubbers to Consider

Jorking Electric Spin Scrubber: This scrubber comes with nine durable attachments for various cleaning tasks. We found that it was comfortable to use, with a handle that, while lacking special padding or grip, was easy to hold. However, we ended up holding the aluminum wand nearer the brushes for better control as the brush head tended to move somewhat unpredictably during use. Although it performed well on tile surfaces, it struggled with grout stains. Switching to the handheld unit improved grout cleaning, however. The brush heads also wobbled when we applied more power and pressure.

TASVAC Electric Spin Scrubber: This electric scrubber offers easy accessibility to most areas, thanks to its handle that extends to 46 inches. Its adjustable head can be set to straight, 135 degrees, or 90 degrees for extra versatility. The handle lacks a grippy texture, but its ergonomic shape fits well in the hand and was comfortable to hold during prolonged use. The push-button mechanism made adjusting the length effortless, and the brush heads both popped off easily and stayed on securely. That said, it did require some effort to control; larger areas like showers and bathroom walls were a two-handed job. For cleaning smaller tiles and grout, manual cleaning might be preferable.

Questions You Might Ask

How do you use an electric scrubber?

Electric scrubbers are fairly easy and straightforward to use. A scrubber with a rechargeable battery will need to be fully charged before operation. Upon receiving your electric scrubber, you’ll likely have to assemble it first, which, again, is an easy process. You can then apply a cleaning solution to the surface you want to clean, before taking your brush to it.

Once you turn the scrubber on, guide the rotating brush head over the dirty surface, applying gentle pressure as needed. The scrubber's motor rotates the brush head, effectively lifting away dirt, scum, and stains. Some electric scrubbers have two or more intensity levels that you can set depending on the situation. You can also change out the head attachment to suit the surface you’re cleaning, and perhaps add the extension wand or extend the handle for vertical surfaces like walls or shower tiles.

“Think of your electric scrubber as your cleaning partner in crime,” Knoll says. “It's all about the angle and the pressure. Keep it steady and let the scrubber do the heavy lifting. It's perfect for tackling those stubborn areas without straining your back or arms.” After cleaning, the brush head can then be rinsed off under a running faucet and left to air dry for the next time you want to use it.

Are electric scrubbers worth it?

An electric scrubber simplifies the cleaning process by providing efficient and thorough scrubbing power, reducing the effort and time needed to achieve sparkling-clean surfaces. So, in our humble opinion, this tool is definitely worth it. Knoll agrees: “Consider the time and elbow grease you'll save. They're a game changer for deep-cleaning sessions, especially in high-grit areas like bathrooms and kitchens. It's an investment in keeping your home clean with less effort.”

The main factor to consider before purchasing an electric scrubber is if you’re actually going to use it. “A lot of times, we buy cleaning tools excited about the functionality; then they end up sitting around because they're too bulky, heavy, or inconvenient to be practical,” Knoll says. “Find a scrubber that fits into the spaces it's needed. Three words to keep in mind are versatility, durability, and ease of use. Is this thing versatile enough to fit the needs of the space and uses? Then, is it easy enough to use that it actually gets used instead of ignored?”

What cleaner do you use with an electric scrubber?

Since the electric scrubber does most of the heavy lifting, there will be many times that you’ll find you don’t have to use a harsh detergent or cleaning product in order to get a surface squeaky clean. Before using any cleaning product with your electric scrubber, check the manufacturer’s guidelines to ensure that it is compatible.

Knoll says to stick to your scrubber's guidelines, but in general, a mild detergent works wonders. For tougher grime, a mix of baking soda and vinegar can enhance your scrubbing without damaging surfaces.

How often do you need to replace the brushes on an electric scrubber?

This depends on how much use the brush attachments get. The more often you use them, the less likely they are to last a long time. Thankfully, replacement brushes are readily available and quite affordable, too. “Monitor the bristles,” Knoll says. “Once they start looking worn out or lose stiffness, it's time for a change. It's like changing a toothbrush; usually every three to six months, depending on usage.”
