In the near future, Major is the first of her kind: a human who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world's most dangerous criminals. Maybe it's because I just saw the original "Ghost in the Shell" recently or maybe it's because I'm not a die-hard fan of the movie, but I think this remake is actually acceptable. I don't think the story completely lands, but the vibes, the visual aesthetic, and the action scenes are decent enough to find some entertainment value. I do feel the movie had me more engaged in the beginning and started to lose me a bit as it went on. I do think it is easier to follow than the original, but that doesn't mean it is a better movie by any means. Overall, I think as far as live-action anime remakes go, this one does really try to capture the vibe and feel of the original, and I think those who give it a fair shake will find it is not the worst way to kill some time and enjoy casually.

Epic movie and such a shame it got bad publicity as a sequel would have been great. Love how Takeshi Kitano & Pilou Asbaek were part of the cast. Visually well done and Johansson did a great job as the lead role 🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
