The acting, sets and music enhance the plot which doesn't cease to keep the viewer excited. His books tend to have more dry humor associated with them but his movies are top notch. The acting ensemble are Polish and great, nonetheless. We, Americans, think we are the one and only in everything including acting and movie production. Movies like this show us how wrong we are. The writer is able to capture vividly and convincingly the nuanced interpersonal exchanges between and among middle-aged people, adolescents, and children. The plot is complex but tightly woven (contrary to what one critic mentioned here, it does not meander). The acting is superb to a person, even the minor characters. All the tension and drama is earned. And the series touches on highly pertinent themes such as the trials of living in the digital age, the power and dangers of familial love, how hard it is to parent AND be parented, what it's like living in a contemporary and more affluent Poland. The core ethical dilemma about privacy and surveillance is handled brilliantly. The current low rating is wholly unjustified.
