Resorts World Las Vegas Announces The Big Deal for One Drop Charity Poker Tournament During Race Week

Celebrities, Race Week Personalities, and Select Poker Pros will Compete in High-Stakes Poker Tournament Benefiting Global Water Initiatives

LAS VEGAS (July 23, 2024) – Resorts World Las Vegas is thrilled to announce the Big Deal for One Drop, a new philanthropic poker tournament in partnership with the WPT® Foundation and the One Drop® Foundation. This exclusive event will take place at the Allē Lounge on 66 at Resorts World Las Vegas during Race Week on November 22, 2024.  The Big Deal, hosted by Guy Laliberté, founder of Cirque du Soleil, Maison Frooogs, and One Drop, will see up to 54 players each buy-in for $10,000 to play for fun and for a great cause.

The tournament will feature Race Week personalities, celebrities, and a few select poker pros battling it out on the felt for prizes, money-can’t-buy experiences, and bragging rights. The MC for the event will be poker legend Phil Hellmuth.

Since 2012, the WPT Foundation and One Drop have raised more than $75 million combined, becoming world leaders in charity poker. Both foundations have made a wide global impact in climate and sustainability, with a special focus through the One Drop Foundation on the cause of safe and sustainable water.

According to UNICEF and the World Health Organization, 2.2 billion people globally lack safe water at home. Resorts World Las Vegas is proud to partner with the One Drop Foundation, which empowers communities to solve the water and climate crisis through innovative, sustainable actions and will soon have improved the living conditions of 3 million people around the world. Since the organization’s inception, One Drop Foundation has raised funds to support life-changing water projects worldwide and has collaborated with several Southern Nevada nonprofits since 2013.

Cards will be in the air for the tournament after a special reception featuring live entertainment at the Allē Lounge on 66 at Resorts World at 12 pm on November 22. This will give the tournament plenty of time to finish ahead of the night action of Race Week. The initial buy-in is $10,000. Rebuys and add-ons will be available throughout the tournament.

“It gives us great pride to host an event with such a notable cause that resonates deeply in Las Vegas,” said Peter LaVoie, President of Resorts World Las Vegas. “Our commitment to sustainability is unwavering, and we look forward to partnering with the One Drop Foundation to further this effort while having some fun during Race Week.”

Guy Laliberté, Founder of One Drop Foundation, said, “In the past 12 years, One Drop has created iconic poker tournaments that are going to be in the big history book of poker for a long time. The Big Deal for One Drop is going to be one of those, for the fun aspect and for the people it will draw. I haven’t played poker much lately, but I really look forward to playing this one. I think the intensity of poker and adrenaline of Race Week in Las Vegas are a perfect match, especially since the funds raised will support the vital cause of safe water.”

Adam Pliska, CEO of the World Poker Tour® added, “This special event, in partnership with the One Drop Foundation and Resorts World, is certainly a not-to-be-missed event for any poker enthusiasts looking to add a fun, global impact angle to Race Week in the heart of Las Vegas.”

MC for the event, Phil Hellmuth, said, “It gives me great pleasure to be the MC for the Big Deal for One Drop charity tournament in Las Vegas during Race Week. It will be hosted by my friend Guy Laliberté. So far, I have MC’d charity events raising over $75 million for many great charities. I look forward to raising more funds for worthy causes in November.”
