The inaugural San Diego Parks Foundation “Sunset Soiree” was held Feb. 3, at the home of J/R Mendoza and Josh Gruenberg in La Jolla Farms.

The event celebrated the San Diego Parks Foundation’s five-year anniversary. The soiree welcomed 225 guests, who enjoyed farm-to-fork cuisine provided by Cucina Migrante and Chef Francesco Bonsi.

The “Sunset Soiree” raised more than $100,000 to help the San Diego Parks Foundation continue its work to bridge the gap in park equity across San Diego and advocate for policy changes that increase the number and quality of parks in the city’s urban areas. The celebration also marked the foundation’s hiring of its first president and CEO, Leona Sublett, in December 2023 and achieving a fundraising milestone exceeding $4 million to date. San Diego Councilmember Joe La Cava also presented a city proclamation recognizing the foundation’s anniversary.
