1 fatally stabbed, 1 injured in Escondido street fight

Detectives are trying to determine if the fight, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday on North Ivy Street near East Lincoln Avenue, was gang related

ESCONDIDO — Escondido police are investigating a fight that left one man dead from a stab wound and a second injured.

Officers were called shortly after 9 p.m. about a fight between two groups on North Ivy Street near East Lincoln Avenue, near Lincoln Elementary School. When officers arrived they found two victims suffering from stab wounds, police said. Everyone else involved in the fight had fled.

The first victim was transported to Palomar Hospital, where he died. He was an adult male, although police did not release his age. The second was taken to Sharp Hospital, where he was reported in stable condition, police said.

Detectives are trying to determine if the fight was gang related. No suspect information has been released.
