Local chef and television personality Sam Zien, better known as Sam the Cooking Guy, has opened a new restaurant in the heart of Little Italy.

Called Basta!, the eatery opening on June 6 serves up Italian-inspired dishes in Piazza della Famiglia. Basta! represents the latest concept by the Grain & Grit Collective, who is also behind Sam the Cooking Guy’s Not Not Tacos, CooCoo’s Nest and Samburgers, all located in the nearby Little Italy Food Hall. Zien films all of his YouTube cooking videos out of his Carmel Valley home.

“We are thrilled to introduce BASTA! to San Diego,” said Zien in a news release. “Our menu, filled with Italian-inspired eats and inventive cocktails, is designed to ignite your taste buds and foster connections, just like a family gathering. Basta means ‘enough’ in Italian, and here, it’s about reaching that sweet spot of satisfaction and wanting more.”

The menu created by Zien with Chef Gavin Mills includes dishes such as Bone Marrow Garlic Bread, Sardines with Calabrian chili and greomolata, Chicken Liver Mousse, Crispy Herb Gnocchi, Handmade Cavatelli with Santa Barbara uni and Ricotta Tortellini with asparagus, lemon, and crème fraiche.

Basta! is located at 555 W. Date Street, Suite B., San Diego. For more information, visit bastasd.com
