Rubio’s has teamed up with professional surfers Griffin and Crosby Colapinto to launch an exclusive new menu item, the “All-World Breakfast Burrito.” According to a news release, the “Cola bros” partnered with Rubio’s culinary team to create the ultimate meal to refuel, packed with 47 grams of protein. The burrito, with a toasted cheese tortilla, is stuffed with eggs, bacon, fresh guacamole, french fries, salsa fresca and Rubio’s signature chipotle white sauce.

The breakfast burrito is available all day for a limited time. Offered as a digital exclusive menu item, the burrito can be ordered online at Rubios.com or on the Rubio’s app.

For the San Clemente-based Colapinto brothers, breakfast burritos have always been a surfing staple. They named their creation after the term they use when they see a set of unbeatable, “all-world” waves rolling in, according to the news release. Griffin hopes to take that all-world title himself when he represents Team USA surfing at this summer’s Paris Olympic Games.

With the launch of the burrito, Rubio’s has also partnered with “To Write Love on Her Arms,”  a nonprofit close to the Colapinto brothers’ hearts that is dedicated to improving mental health. Rubio’s guests are invited to round up with a donation to the nearest dollar at checkout with any purchase online or in the Rubio’s app.

Rubio’s, which started in the fish taco business in San Diego more than 40 years ago, recently announced that it filed for bankruptcy protection with the goal of selling the business. The announcement came after Rubio’s closed 48 of its restaurants—13 of them across San Diego County, including the Solana Beach location in Beachwalk Center. The existing 86 locations will remain open while the Chapter 11 bankruptcy process proceeds.

Rubio’s has been in Carmel Valley’s Del Mar Highlands Town Center for 25 years and it is one of the top selling stores in the San Diego system.
