She also spent four years covering San Diego's single biggest Ponzi scheme and the woman who masterminded it. A Southern California native and graduate of UCLA, Lori joined The San Diego Union-Tribune in 1980 and over the years has been awarded a number of fellowships in specialty reporting, multimedia production and social media. She was a longtime board member of the San Diego chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists and was board president when San Diego was named best large chapter in the country.
