The 142nd running of the Preakness Stakes was an exciting one, with Cloud Computing beating out Classic Empire down the stretch to win the second jewel of the Triple Crown.
Always Dreaming came in as the favorite with 6-5 odds after winning the Kentucky Derby a few weeks ago. Classic Empire and Looking at Lee were 2-1 and 9-1 odds, respectively. Cloud Computing had 14-1 odds. It was a good day for Cloud Computing, as he will be walking away from Pimlico $900,000 richer.
The win for Cloud Computing ends Always Dreaming’s chance of taking the Triple Crown. The third jewel of the Triple Crown is The Belmont Stakes, scheduled for June 10 in New York.
