Aspects of Gede Hey Susan the Lwa called Bawon are the adoptive fathers of the Gede.

The Gede can be traced directly back to africa to the Gedevi people. As far as i know, the lwa called Bawon seem to be straight out of Haiti. Remember - Bawon, like Ogou, or Gede or Legba, etc is a last name. That denotes a family so to speak. Bawon Lakwa and Cimite' do not move - they are corpses. They sort of gurgle. Samdi will speak but very slowly. People who pass these spirits will often start coughing after the spirit leaves there body so they will start breathing again - stiffness and cold too - these spirits are corpses after all.. Bawon like Kwimonel and Makaya will walk and talk, but those two and others are very hot forces. Now - Gede is a whole other story. While Bawon is death, the Gede are Lwa who came from the dead, but are a lot more lively, so to speak. They tell dirty jokes, steal peoples stuff, eat everything you put in front of them, tell you all your business in front of everyone else...and solve your problems, do all kinds of work for people, help you figure out all kinds of things. the Gede hear and know all kinds of things, and are often good to go to when you need to find out how to solve certain kinds of problems or patch relations between you and other Lwa, etc. There are many spirits called Gede... Bwav Gede, Gedelia, Mazaka la Kwa, Ti Mazaka, Gede Nibo, and ummm, well, this sadly is all i can think of at the moment, but there are LOTS of Gede. They all have something distictive that sets them apart, and often it deals with food, booze, or smokes. Some will smoke more than one ciggarette, some will pour Piman into their hat or their pockets (this is how they drink it - there wont be a wet spot after they do this), some of them will eat everything you put in front of them, some of them will only eat the insides of something. Ti Mazaka, my favorite little boy, as a joke, will smear cake on the top of his head as a suprise for the person when he leaves and they come back.

In Haiti, Bawon is like the father, Gede are like the kids, and all of them live in the cemetary. D Baron Krimminel? I f so what are his > characteristics? How is it to work with him?
