Dear McMullen-Booth Families
What a busy time of year! It is a time of joy and
celebration for all that has been accomplished! I am glad
that we have so much to celebrate and wouldnt have it
any other way! Here is a glimpse at some of the
wonderful events that have been happening on our
campus:
Our own Ms. Steakley orchestrated the efforts of many
in our Earth Day celebration. There were plants, crafts
and learning focused on the theme, Reduce, Reuse,
Recycle! It was a wonderful community effort and event
enjoyed by all!
Tatiana Simmons and Adriana Tigner represented us
proudly at the Carwise Minority Achievement Awards.
We are proud of their achievements!
Our PTA celebrated their appreciation for our teachers
and staff this last week. It was a joyful week of treats and
deserved recognitions! The catered lunch on Friday was
such a nice treat for all staff members to enjoy! Thank
you to all who recognized their teachers during this
Teacher Appreciation time of year!
Our PMAC (Principals Multicultural Advisory
Committee) sponsor attended their yearend celebration
and garnered ideas for next years program and events.
They were honored with the Program on the Move Award
for all of the wonderful activities that they facilitated for
our students!
Our ASD classes performed at their Were All Ears! Autism Speaks and Sings program that was enjoyed by
students and families alike. They had such a great time showing their language learning!
PTA sponsored a Cyber Bullying Prevention presentation on Thursday night, and then we were treated to the
melodic voices of our 4
th
and 5
th
grade students! It was a great learning and celebration evening!
Teachers and students are celebrating the results of their yearend assessments, and we are happy to have so
many students who have worked hard and shown tremendous growth for their efforts all year long!
These are just a few examples of what makes McMullen-Booth the great school that it is! Enjoy these last
days of the 2013-2014 school year and reflect on the great progress of our students and community as we have
worked together to make a difference in the lives of our students! We are proud to say, We are McMullen-
Booth! Working together, we make a difference!
Just a heads up reminder The last day of school will be an early dismissal day. Our school will dismiss
students at 12:35 PM. Please make arrangements now for transportation and child care for that day. Thank you!

Thanks to all of you who have been so diligent in carrying out our volunteer log in
procedures. Please be sure all of your volunteer hours are entered into the
system by Friday, May 23rd. Let me know if you need assistance to accomplish
this important task.
Our Earth Day event would not be possible without the help of our
wonderful volunteers. Thanks to all of you who came out to support this fun activity.
Please plan to join us again next year!
Hard to believe we are nearing the end of the school year! In order to ensure a smooth
opening of the new school year, we are in need of many helping hands. I have placed
signup sheets at the volunteer counter. Please stop by to see where you would like to
help. Even an hour of your time would be a tremendous help. I know we can count on
you!

As parents, do you ever wonder if your child really appreciates all that you do for him or
her? Perhaps this poem will ease your mind a bit, because even though our children
sometimes dont say anything, they are always watching.
When You Thought I Wasnt Looking
When you thought I wasnt looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and
I wanted to paint another one.
When you thought I wasnt looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to
be kind to animals.
When you thought I wasnt looking, I saw you make my favorite cake just for me, and I
know little things are special things.
When you thought I wasnt looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that
sometime things hurt, but its all right to cry.
When you thought I wasnt looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that
I could be.
When you thought I wasnt looking, I lookedand wanted to say thanks for all the things I
saw when you thought I wasnt looking.

Address Change
Moving or planning to move? According to the Code of Student Conduct, if you move during
the school year or over the summer, parents are required to give the school their new
address within five days of their move. If the school discovers that you have moved and you
have not told them, your child could be considered to be found out of that schools
attendance area. This could mean an immediate change of school for your child and your
child could be deemed ineligible for athletics and other school activities. Follow these easy
steps to update your address and to keep the district informed. Please be sure to provide
updated phone numbers to us as well. These are extremely important in case of a child
illness or other emergency.

Steps to change your childs address during the school year:
Go to https://reservation.pcsb.org/, and log in with your User ID and Password.
Click on Change of Residence Address link and follow the steps.

Proof of Residence
Requires two of the following items: utility bill for power, water, cable, sewer or land-based
telephone (not cellular); rental agreement or lease; closing document; Pinellas County tax
statement with homestead exemption. The items must be recent and include the name of
the parent/guardian and the service/home address.

We received proceeds in the amount of $129.82 from our March McDonalds Family Night.
Yearbook Multi-Colored Signing Pens on Sale $2
During yearbook distribution, we will be selling pens that are retractable and each pen has four
different colors of ink inside. We will be selling two different pens: One that writes in black, red,
blue and green and the other writes in purple, turquoise, magenta and lime. They are $2-cash only
and will be sold in the media center. If your child would like to purchase one, please have them
bring $2 with them on yearbook distribution days. 5
th
grade can purchase a pen when they receive
their yearbooks on Tuesday, May 27
th
. The rest of the grades can purchase their pen when they
receive their books on Wednesday, May 28
th
. Please note that the pens sales are a fundraiser for
the yearbook and will help to keep the cost of the yearbooks down in the next school year.
Yearbook signing pens are sold on a first come, first served basis and are sure to sell out!
Important Cafeteria News
*All outstanding lunch borrows need to be paid before the last day of school.
* No lunch loans will be allowed after Friday, May 23
rd
.
*Lunch account balances will carry over to next year AND will follow the student to any Pinellas
County School even middle school! If your child will not be in a Pinellas County School next year,
please send a note to the cafeteria for a balance refund.

Wow!
We received Boxtops for Education proceeds in the amount of $990.20!
Keep sending in those Boxtops. As you can see, they really add up!

Speed Bumps To Be Installed

Concerns over cars that are traveling at unsafe speeds in our car circles has Principal Aemisegger
seeking assistance for how to create safer conditions in our car circles. Pinellas County Schools
Facilities Manager, Terry Huberty, indicates that speed bumps will be installed to aid in slowing
traffic down and reinforcing that safety is a number one concern for the McMullen-Booth
community. Thank you to all MBES community

1) Drive at safe speeds at all times while on
campus.
2) Avoid cell phone conversations while in the
pickup lane.
3) Make sure that children ride in second row
passenger seats with proper car safety seats or
seat belts.
Our children are our future! Please keep them safe while driving on the roads.
