Today, Johnson County District Court Judge Thomas Foster sentenced Dalton Gay to 64 months in the Juvenile Correctional Facility. Judge Foster had previously designated the case as an Extended Juvenile Jurisdiction Prosecution. If Gays juvenile sentence is revoked, he can be ordered to serve 147 months in custody of the Kansas Department of Corrections.
The District Attorneys Office announces that 16 year old Dalton Gay of Bonner Springs, Kansas, has pleaded guilty to an amended charge of second degree murder, a level one felony related to the murder of his father, Darren Gay, on July 2, 2013, in Shawnee. Johnson County District Court Judge Thomas Foster set the sentencing date in this case for October 20, 2014, at 2:30 p.m. This case was investigated by the Shawnee Police Department and the Johnson County Crime Lab.
