Over all the standards for reading and writing, most of my students are proficient, as
indicated by the orange bar. However, students seem to be struggling more with Standard 5
which requires students to read to locate, select, and make use of relevant information from a
variety of media, reference, and technological sources (Colorado Model Content Standards:
Reading & Writing, 4). I will aim to work more with my students on this standard by having
them do several research projects for my class. I will go through step-by-step how they should
look through different types of media (i.e. books from the library, websites, podcasts, etc.) and
how they can select the information necessary for their project. I will also show my students
different kinds of new media from the more recent advances of technology to demonstrate how
to use them and how to select the information they need from them.

Across the board, most of my students are only partially proficient in math, as indicated
by the grey bar. They seem to have a more difficult time with Standard 2 which requires students
to use algebraic methods to explore, model, and describe patterns and functions involving
numbers, shapes, data, and graphs in problem-solving situations and communicate the reasoning
used in solving these problems (Colorado Model Content Standards: Mathematics, 2). In order
to help my students to improve in this area of their math skills, I plan on doing a review over the
algebraic methods as well as how to work with and understand data and graphs. I will have my
students do exercises involving these concepts and examine where exactly they are getting stuck
so that I can further work with my students to improve their skills in this area.
