i) Average Annual Rainfall
ii) Total Area
iii) Water Available for recharge

= 700 mm
= 19461 sqm
= 8223.81 cum/annum

Only rain water from roof top and hard paving is diverted to recharge pits
Total no. of Recharge pits are 6 nos. (As per Geologist Recommendation)
Size of pit 2.50m dia x 3.0m depth with borewell upto 65 meter depth
It is presumed that the area covered by shallow aquifer would be near about 30% underground
which is = 19461 X 30% = 5838 sqm
Pre & Post monsoon groundwater level fluctuation is considered as 10m
Water that can be accomodated in aquifer = area of aquifer in sqm X water level
fluctuation in the aquifer in mtr X specific capacity of aquifer
Water that can be accomodated in aquifer = 5838 X 10 X 0.03 = 1751.40
cum/annum
As such the aquifer has the capacity to accommodate ater that can be
accommodate 17.50 lakh liters of water
In the region where total annual rainfall occurs only during 3 to 4 months of monsoon, the water
collected during monsoon has to be stored throughout the year which means that huge volumes of
storage container are required so it is feasible to use rain water to recharge ground water aquifers
rather than for storage
Note :- All areas considered for calculations shall be confirmed by Architect
