Impressionistic Approach

Alma by Maria L.M. Fres-Felix

The story is about a widowed man with sons a daughter. He has a girlfriend who is way
younger than her. His sons are against him as having a younger girlfriend who was about their
age. Though the lady demands as what younger girls are, she still makes the man feel happy
and young again. According to what the author describes his feeling about the lady, I can say
that the man was madly in love with the lady. Her only daughter and the husband were the only
ones who understand him. But in my own opinion, even if I was the child of the widowed man, I
understand how his sons treated them. It is just because I cannot accept that there is someone
else my father can find his happiness in love aside from my mother who passed away. Yet it
makes him happy but if I can have the chance to talk to my father, I would say, Are we still not
enough to be your happiness in life? We are the ones who resemble our mother to you. We may
look selfish in your eyes but you cannot accept the fact that she is your wife and there is nothing
and no one can replace mother in our hearts and your heart too. I may be mad in that tone but
having a demanding girlfriend of their father. I understand how those sons would feel if that story
happens to me. On the other hand, the sons should act as if they want to prove that their father
should not need a girlfriend. For example, they should invite him to bond with them and give
reasons for their father to realize that he does not need a new woman in life to be happy, but he
needs just his children to be happy.
