Human Impact Essay

Human Impact is destroying our environment and heres why. The
three ways human impact is destroying our environment is with
deforestation which is to clear forest by cutting down all trees and plants
which can lead to deforestation. Desertification is when land is cleared which
becomes barren and then all of the soil is eroded away and the remaining
plants die which then makes the remaining soil turned to sand and once
desertification starts it is almost impossible to stop. And last but definitely
not least is urbanization which is when deforestation occurs and then towns
and cities are built on that land for people to live in the only problem with
urbanization is when the cities and towns are abandoned they start to
deteriorate which thens turn to desert also. This is why urbanization is the
most destructive human impact because you are already tearing down forest
and then you are building on that land and then that city is releasing harmful
gasses and polluting the water and then once the cities are abandoned they
start desertification.
Deforestation is the act of tearing down trees to build new things on
the land like farms and cities which is good for the humans but bad for the
environment. As shown in the 2nd paragraph of document A Among the
obvious consequences of deforestation is the lost of living space. This
evidence shows that one of the main reasons for deforestation is to create
more living space for humans. Another major consequence of deforestation
is species going extinct and major flooding as shown in document C
paragraph 6 Species may become extinct due to the loss of their habitat,
erosion and flooding can occur, and desertification and decreased land
productivity may also result.. The evidence shows that deforestation just
like all other human impacts on this list can destroy animals habitats which
makes animals become extinct like whats happening with the pandas in
China and the clearing of the forest can cause flooding because theres
nothing to block the flooding when there are just miles and miles of barren
land. Deforestation is a very dangerous and impactful human impact but it is
not as terrible as urbanization.
Desertification usually comes after deforestation or urbanization
because after all of the trees are cleared from a forest all of the rain becomes
run off and flows right off the land which makes the soil dry and infertile
which then causes it to erode away and become sand and now what was
once a forest is now a desert. As shown in paragraph 3 of document 3
Across the world, the total amount of land that has been lost is about equal
to the size of Brazil (2 billion acres or 810 million hectares).. The evidence
shows that the amount of useful land that has been lost to desertification is
the equivalent to the size of brazil or 2 billion acres. Also, according to the 3rd
paragraph of document C Annually, 15 million acres are lost to

desertification. This shows that annually 15 million acres are lost every year
which means desertification has been going on for only about 133 years
which was right after the final gold rush ended. This shows that
desertification is a lot more dreadful than deforestation and it can be caused
by cities being abandoned after urbanization the worst part about
desertification is that once it starts its very hard to get rid of.
Urbanization is the act of a rural area being turned into a populated
area with many people yet urbanization is the most effective human impact
because first deforestation goes on and then cities are built which create
landfills, air pollution, water pollution and much more and after those cities
are abandoned they start to deteriorate and eventually that land will become
desert just like what happened after the gold rush. As shown in the top map
of document B Africa has one of the highest amounts of population growth
even though most of there country is turning to desert if it isnt already
desert. This evidence shows that Africas massive population growth
percentages are causing desertification from abandoning towns and
chopping all of the plants and trees for food and resources. Also, according to
the Population Reference Bureau While the world's population is doubling,
the world's urban population is tripling. Within the next few years, more
than half the world's population will be living in urban areas.. This shows
that the world is becoming more and more urbanized which means more and
more forest are being torn down and that means that once all of these big
cities will eventually be abandoned and turned to desert. This shows that
Urbanization is the most deadly and destructive yet most necessary human
impact because of all of the other human impacts go into this one there is air
and water pollution along with it but it is the most necessary for life on earth
because it gives humans shelter.
Urbanization is the worst human impact because it combines the other
human impacts along with various types of pollution including air pollution,
water pollution, and land fills. According to the United Nations Environment
Program The increase in urban population causes different problems. Air
and water pollution are amongst the major issues we have to tackle.. This
shows that urbanization is a problem in more ways than just tearing down
trees and building towns. According to desert USA Mining towns such as
Tumco, Bodie, Oatman and Randsberg were once booming with growth due
to the mining operations which provided jobs and drew gold seekers from all
over the country. When the mines closed, the towns died, and their remains
have become ghost towns and tourist attractions.. This evidence is an
example of how cities pop up out of nowhere and once there is no reason to
live there anymore people move away and those towns become deserts. This
is why urbanization is such the worst human impact that can lead to various
things and pollution but, if we build cities from the ground up that run on
clean energy this problem can be fixed.
