SELVA ALTA /

Location
It

extends along the eastern flank of the


Andes , from the boundary with Ecuador
to the boundary with Bolivia , between
500-3500 meters above sea level.

Weather
Weather:

Has two different weathers.

1.

Semi-warm humid climate between 2,500 and


600 meters above sea level, with high rainfall and
average temperature of 24 C. As higher altitude,
lower temperature.

2.

Cold weather between 3500 and 2500 meters


above sea level, with moderate rainfall and average
temperature of 12 .

Geography
Very

complex, with steep slopes and narrow


valleys between 3,500 and 2,000 meters above
sea level.

Below

the 2,000 meters above sea level valleys


become larger and the relief is less complicated.

Soil
In

this ecoregion 3 types of soil are presented :

1. Stony ( lithosols ) in the highlands .


2. Cambisoles in the intermediate portions .
3. Acrisols in the lowlands.
The

floors are exposed to severe erosion and landslides


newspapers due to the existence of steep slopes , high
rainfall , logging and burning of forests .

Hydrography
The

complex orographic system of the high forest


gives rise to numerous streams and very fastflowing rivers , which in turn lead to a lot of
waterfalls , so in this sector most are not navigable
river .

The

main rivers of the Upper Amazon are: Maranon ,


May, Abiseo , Huallaga , Ene, Pachitea , Tambo and
Perene .

Flora

- Higuern, Arrayn, Romerillo, Sauce, Molle, Tara, Cabuya, Ccasi,


Tornillo, Cedro de altura, Nogal, Roble, Turpay, Cacao, Barrign, Lishia,
Catahua, Achihua.

Cactceas :

Arbustos :

- Tuna, Sugaro.

- Laguir, Paracksha, Huarhuash, Sulchuche, Papelillo, Etepen ccaccha,


Ahuarate, Guartiro, Tabaquillo, Overo, Sanango, Pichana.

Oso

hormiguero amaznico; Perezoso de dos dedos; Armadillo de nueve bandas,

Ardilla

Oso
