    Dear District Attorney Spota,
    I am calling on you to resign the office of District Attorney of Suffolk County, effective immediately.
    It is very clear through numerous published reports and the ongoing investigation by the United States
    Department of Justice that your office has repeatedly subverted the criminal justice system. These
    reports, highlighted by the published report in todays Newsday, demonstrate a shadow system where
    selective prosecutions and selective non-prosecutions have become the norm.
    While the federal investigation into your office and several members of your staff is ongoing, this matter
    cannot wait. The work of the office of the District Attorney is too important. There are currently
    allegations against two high-ranking members of your staff: John Scott Prudenti, is accused of
    accepting bribes over a period of years from criminal defense attorneys to curry favor, and Chris
    McPartland, is accused of both participating in obstruction of justice as well as being a key player in a
    shadow justice system of selective prosecutions and non-prosecutions. The report in todays Newsday,
    alleges that you are aware of potential criminal conduct from members of your staff, current political
    party leaders and members of the judiciary, and that you allowed criminal acts to go unprosecuted.
    There cannot be two systems of justice in Suffolk County. There cannot be one system for the wellconnected and political elite, and one for everyone else. Suffolk County residents must have confidence
    in their justice system and that cannot be the case so long as you remain District Attorney.
    Should you elect to remain in office, I will advocate for the Governor to use the powers delegated to
    him by the New York State Constitution to remove you from office.
