Athletes
In this teaching activity, students ask and answer How much / How many....? questions in
order to complete missing information.
Before class, make one copy of worksheet A and B for each pair of students.
Procedure
Divide the class into two groups (A and B). Give a copy of worksheet A to all the students in
group A and a copy of worksheet B to all the students in group B.
Students then work together with the people in their group. They write down the questions
they will need to ask in order to complete the missing information about the athletes.
Each question must begin with either How much? or How many?
For example, students with worksheet A should write: How much orange juice does Kristine
drink a day? for the first gap, while students with worksheet B should write: How many hours
does Kristine train every day?
When both groups have finished their writing questions, students pair up with someone from
the other group and sit back to back with their new partner.
Students are not allowed to look at each others worksheet.
Students then take it in turns to ask their partner the questions they have prepared. Students
fill in the gaps with their partner's answers.
Finally, students check the answers as a class.
