There are many plants which grow in water . These plants are AQUATIC PLANTS .

They can be divided to three groups. They are Submerged Plants , Floating Plants and Fixed Plants

SUBMERGED PLANTS
The plants remain under water. Their leaves are small narrow having no stomata. They breathe through body surface. eg: Hydrilla, tape grass.

FLOATING PLANTS
Some aquatic plants float freely on the surface of water. They are called floating plants. Their leaves are thin waxy so that water may not wet the surface of the leaves and block the stomata. eg: Duckweed , water hyacinth

FIXED PLANTS
Some plants have roots fixed on mud. They can float on water. The long and hollow stem help the plant to float on water .They have broad leaves. Stomata is on upper side of leaf . eg: water Lilly , lotus
