The stagecoach made it happen

that dont prepare their property for sale. Just clean and uncluttered would have been a step in the right direction let alone a paint job to neutralize an all blue room. What did I know at the time. Stage coaches were lurking on HGTV, Lucy would discover and get totally smitten by their creativity in making a home saleable. I watched several times and couldnt believe what they were doing with the end result being a sale in 24 hours to a month when they couldnt give it away before. It was all in the presentation just like everything else thats for sale. All the homes that we were viewing were in California. I thought no one in Ohio does this. Itll take years for the concept to appear in the Midwest. Wrong, Wright. Its happening now and we here in Springboro are fortunate that we have a master stager living in our community and one of the best in the state. She took a home at Heatherwoode that wasnt selling or generating any interest, staged the property and it sold in a few weeks. Others she has worked on sold in 24 hours, a week, two weeks or a month after no interest. Its all in the presentation. If your property is for sale youll want to meet this lady and learn more about staging your property. I interviewed ASP Master Stager, Debra Ghysels recently for the TV newsmagazine of Springboro 45066 which will air 35 to 40 times during July and August on Time Warners channel 6. The first show airs tonight at 6:30 p.m. Look elsewhere in this paper for a complete schedule for the coming week. Others on the show with Mayor Agenbroad and myself are local artist Wayne Taylor in a meet your neighbor chat that features some of Waynes remarkable art work. Youll also meet and hear from the 2009 Springboro High School class officers, valedictorian, and salutatorian. Updates on fall programs at the Coffman Family Y, Heatherwoode, the Springboro Library, the Over 50 and Beyond group and learn all about Miracle Field in front of the junior high school with Linda Oda and Project Director Marc Robinson. Its a fast-paced look at this wonderful community we call home. The good, we finally found the perfect condo and moved in two-and-half years ago and are very pleased with our decision. Was it staged? No, it was empty and ready for foreclosure and needed just a little bit of TLC that we provided. When we sell someday Debra will be the first person we call.

Springboro Sun,

Thursday, July 2, 2009

ets start off with the ugly and the bad and then move to the good. Three years ago Lucy and I decided it was time to get condo-sized. No more grass to cut, or salt to toss after the big ice storm would be the Wright decision. We contacted a Don realtor and Wright had her begin searching for condos in our price range. The concept: I Columnist would visit Springboro those that Sun seemed like theyd work, pick my three favs and then go see them at another time with Lucy. I thought this would be something I could accomplish after lunch on Monday with a move in by the end of next week. Financing was secured, we just had to find the property. During my previews of 47 condos over a five-month period I was up, down and several times nauseous. There was the condo on the lake (pond) that had two male dogs and two cats. It was filthy inside with dog urine on all the furniture. The odor was horrible, the carpet was a mess and the attention deficit disorder felines were marching back and forth on the kitchen counters holding their noses. I remained in the unit for about 30 seconds just enough time to inhale an exorbitant amount of bad air. Please do not show me anymore units like this I politely asked realtor lady. About 4 weeks later with no luck I am again in search mode and getting very disappointed in not finding anything even close to what we want. I cant believe people are trying to sell their properties with living quarters looking horrible and unkempt. The next unit another lake (pond) property was in a different area then the previous. This one put me away in less than 30 seconds. Heres what I was looking at when we entered through the front door. Medium blue walls, medium blue carpeting, medium blue ceiling and ..are you ready to gag.medium blue furniture. I actually ran out the front door in less than 10 seconds gasping for air. When I talked to Lucy later I told her that I was in the Blue Man Group condo earlier today and it was a nightmare. It still frightens me in dreams from time to time. I kept thinking whats wrong with people

Throughout the exhibition, participating artists will be available in the afternoons to greet visitors and answer questions. While the show is open to all members, it is juried for $800 in prizes, including The Lombard Prize for best interpretation of the theme. Sara Pierce will be the prize jurior. She is a respected, Cincinnati-based writer and critic, whose work has been widely published, in publications that include The Cincinnati Enquirer, The Orlando Sentinel, USA Today, Nashville Banner, York Daily Record and Philadelphia Bulletin. In 2009, Peoples Choice Award of $100 will be presented for the first time. Each visitor to the gallery during the length of the exhibit may vote once. A valid phone number or email address is required to vote. Presentation of awards will take place at DVACs annual meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 17. The DVAC gallery is free and open to the public five days each week. For more information, call (937) 2243822 or visit the Web site at www.daytonvisualarts.org.
