1 Introduction
IPCMonitor is centralized management software included with the camera. It allows users to control monitoring, video capture, alarm testing, and other functions for multiple IP cameras on a LAN or WAN. Before using the software, please ensure the devices can be accessed by web browsers from your LAN or WAN. This guide provides an overview of accessing the IP Camera using this dedicated client application.

2 Computer Requirements
Your computer should meet the following requirements to operate the software: CPU: Dual-core CPU RAM: 1GB or above Hard disk: 160GB or above OS: Windows XP or higher Display Resolution: 1024*768 or higher

3 Installation

Figure 1: User Interface Insert the included CD into the drive and double click IPCMonitor_en.install.exe. Follow the instructions on the window to complete the software installation. After installation is complete, run the application and the user interface will be shown as in Figure 1.

4 Device Management
The following steps are required before using the application: 1 Install the IP Camera(s) to be monitored 2 Login to the IP Camera(s) via web browser and set the IP address, port, username & password, alarm setting, system time etc. 3 DDNS is preferable to visit the devices via WAN. In the application, the Device Management tab is shown in Figure 2:

4.1 Adding A Device

Choose a product series CXS2200 uses series B. The fields 'Domain/IP', 'Port', 'Viewing Username', and Viewing Password' are required. Test the connection from a web browser. If the device is connected via WAN, the IP address can be a domain name. button as shown in Figure 2. Input the device information as shown in

2 Alarm Settings The alarm mode can be set by clicking on the Alarm Settings tab, as in Figure 4.To enable the alarm, check the 'Enabled alarm' first.

3 Record Scheduling Video recording can be scheduled by clicking the Record Scheduling tab. The device will perform video recording automatically according to the schedule, as shown in Figure 5.

4.2 Adding Multiple LAN devices

Multiple devices within a LAN can be added by clicking the

button. An example is

shown in Figure 6. Select the product series and click Search; the found devices will be listed. Click the checkbox on the device to be added, assign a name and set the viewing username and password. Click OK; the device is added in device list.

Figure 6: Add Multiple Devices NOTICE: If a firewall is running on the computer, after clicking the search button, a window may pop-up asking whether to block or unblock the application; click 'unblock to proceed.

4.3 Modifying Devices

Modify the device settings by selecting the device and clicking the

button. The

modify window is the same as the 'Adding A Device' window. Users can change the device information, alarm settings and record settings. When modifying a device name, click the down arrow and select 'Modify device name' from the drop-down list as shown in figure 7.

4.4 Deleting a Device

Delete a device by selecting it and clicking the

button. To delete all devices, click

the down arrow on the right side and select 'delete all devices' from the drop-down list.

4.5 Additional Notes on the Device List Window


1 After adding a device, right click on the device and select open browser. A browser window will open and automatically log into the device. 2A 3A icon will be shown on the right side of a device if the alarm is enabled. icon will be shown on the right side of a device if video recording is scheduled. or icons will open the alarm and record settings windows.

5 Accessing a Device
After adding devices, the devices must be powered on and connected to the network. IPCMonitor provides the following operation/functions: Video display, devices arming, execute scheduled video recording, and respond to users controls.

5.1 Start the Video


Video can be displayed using the following three methods: 1) Double click the device to be started; a free channel will be opened to display the video. 2) Clicking the button will also start a device. By clicking on the down arrow,

users can start all devices by selecting from the drop-down list. 3) Drag and drop a device to channel to display in the desired channel. The device name will be shown in green on the status bar.

5.2 Alarm Trigger


1 After starting a video, the application will detect the device to determine if any alarm has occurred. 2 Whenever an alarm is detected, the application will check the arming time. If the alarm is within an armed time window, the alarm will be activated. 3 If the icon is blinking on the device field, an alarm action is being taken; clicking the icon will stop the alarm. 4 If a appears but is not blinking, there was a recent triggered alarm. Double click on the icon to display a recent alarm list. The icon will disappear when the alarm list is closed. Figure 9 is provided as a reference.

Figure 9: Alarm List window 5 If the snapshot trigger is activated, the file name will start with an A prefix followed by a time stamp, in a JPEG format. 6 Please refer to chapter 8.1 for more information on alarm actions.

5.3 Video Recording Trigger


1 The application can perform 3 types of video recording: alarm video recording (Figure 4), scheduled recording (Figure 5), and manual recording (Figure 10). The manual recording has top priority, followed by scheduled and alarm recording. For example:

If a manual recording is initiated while an alarm recording is in progress, the application will stop the alarm recording and proceed with manual recording. While performing a scheduled video recording, if an alarm is activated, the application will not respond to the alarm recording request.

2 Prefixes A, M and S will be assigned to the file name for alarm recording, manual

recording and scheduled recording respectively, followed by a time stamp and in .avi format. 3 If the recording time exceeds one hour, a new file will be created for each additional hour.

5.4 Stopping the Video


A video can be stopped in the following two methods: 1 Select a device and click the button to stop recording. All active devices can

be stopped by clicking on the down arrow and selecting stop all video from the drop-down list. 2 Right-click on a channel and select stop video from the pop-up menu to stop recording.

6 Device Control
Select a video channel from the display area to control the corresponding device.

6.1 Basic Operation


1 Double click on a channel to expand to full screen mode. By double clicking again, the video will return to the original size. 2 Click and hold a channel and drag it to another channel to swap. 3 By right clicking on a channel, the user can perform additional operations from the pop-up menu. 4 By clicking on the icons in the status bar for each channel, users can manually snapshot or record. Figure 10 displays the channel status bar, with speaker, sound control, snapshot and manual video recording buttons. Figure 10: Channel Status Bar Note: the talkback icon will be disabled if another user is utilizing the talkback function. Users can only communicate with the device an active channel. After taking a snapshot, A window will pop-up, with additional options.

6.2 Device Control Panel


The device control panel can be accessed by clicking 'device control' at the lower right corner or by pressing the space bar. 1Users can check the active channels information in the Device Control Panel, including device name and device IP address. 2The pan/tilt can control up, down, left, and right movement by clicking on the arrows accordingly in the PTZ Control area. The keyboard arrow keys can also control pan/tilt functions: ;

7 Channel Management
For simultaneous video viewing, multiple channel switches are provided. There are switch buttons above the device and channel management panel, as shown in Figure 11.

Figure 11: Channel Switch Buttons The application can provide up to 16 video channels, and can manage up to 64 devices simultaneously.

8 Other Settings
Listed above Device Management and Device Control, there are System Setting, History and About buttons.

8.1 System Setting

Figure 12: System Setting The System Settings window is shown in Figure 12. Following are the functions for this window: 1 Reconnect Settings: The device will reconnect after a failed connection. 2 Alarm Settings: In the 'Alarm action settings' section, users can select another sound file (.wav) as a siren sound. If this field is left blank the default sound will be used. Users can also configure the Siren Duration, Snapshot Number, and Record Duration fields. 2 About storage location: Users can set the picture and video file storage location. If the field is left blank, files will be stored in the application installation directory. Pictures and videos will be stored in. /snap, and. /record directories. If Delete the oldest files When the disk space is insufficient is selected, when the disk space is less than 900M, the program will automatically delete the first recorded files, then re-run the record function.

8.2 History Log


By clicking on the History Log, the video play list will be opened. The user can browse the videos, which are sorted by device name.

9 Additional Notes
When performing centralized monitoring, it may be useful to open the Windows Task Manager and check the percentage of CPU usage. If the CPU usage is higher than 80%, the CPU's performance may not be sufficient for the current settings. Refer to the third part in 6.2; click advanced to access the video setting page to adjust the bitrate and/or resolution.
