This is a new interlocal agreement to continue to educate and assist Lake Tahoe homeowners in the propagation of endangered Tahoe Yellow Cress (TYC) plants. The Nevada Tahoe Conservation District (NTCD) will utilize their existing Backyard Conservation Program to advertise the Stewardship Project and encourage participation in the TYC. In response to near extinction of the species between 1995 and 2000, the TYC Conservation Strategy was adopted in 2002. This specifically outlines development of a stewardship program in which private landowners and public agencies may participate. The NTCD will coordinate with the Nevada Division of Forestry to collect seeds and propagate TYC; they will coordinate to provide a minimum of 3,000 seeds to restock the TYC bank; will coordinate with the TCY group to conduct annual TYC monitoring; and target groups for outreach events that will include various community groups in the Lake Tahoe Basin.
