    REDEMPTORIS MISSIO The Missionary Activity of the Church

    Released on January 22, 1991 Commemorates the 25th anniversary of the Second Vatican councils decree Ad Gentes The 5 major areas of concern are the Liberation, Base Communities, Local churches, Inculturation, and Poverty.

    Introduction

    I. -

    The missionary activity of the Church is far from completion but there are fruits that the Vatican had already done such as increase in local churches, more evident Christian communities, and increase of the involvement of the laity. Difficulties have weakened the Churchs missionary activity to non-Christians. Missionary evangelization is the primary service of the Church Jesus Christ, the only Savior Jesus Christ was crucified. Ded and was buried for our salvation. When He was resurrected, the urgency of the missionary activity started. He is the mediator between God and us humans Opening ones self to God is the key to true liberation Temptation reduces Christianity.

    II. The Kingdom of God - The mission of Jesus is to proclaim the Kingdom of God. - The Kingdom of God is for all of us yet building this Kingdom needs liberation from all evil. - Church is at the service of the Kingdom. III. The Holy Spirit - The Holy Spirit aids on the mission of the Church through the apostles and those who heard them. - Through the seeds of the word, found in human initiatives and in mankinds efforts to seek for the truth, goodness and God himself. - The church respects the action of the Holy Spirit to non-Christian religions. IV. The Horizon of Mission ad gentes - Second Vatican councils decree on the missionary activity of the Church - The target people are those who do not believe Christ, far from Christ. - The target places are where the church has not taken its root and those culture is not influenced by the gospel.

    V. -

    The Paths of Mission Witnesses are important in tis mission Church must have a stand against corruption. The Church aims total conversion especially in faith. Communities that are founded with Christ shows the vitality of the Church and it will become effective with the help of Inculturation. The Church is always on our side.

    VI. Leaders and Workers of mission - As soon as possible, the young Churches must partake in this mission - Priests, Bishops, and the Pope are the ones who are responsible for this mission and it is a special vocation. - Even the Laity play an important role in this mission. VII. Cooperation in mission - As followers of Christ, we must contribute in this mission. - We must share the sacrifice of the missionaries VIII. Missionary Spirituality - Young Churches are the hope for this mission.
