Applicable Drives
This document explains the difference between L7B and L1000A for a successful transition L1000A. Be sure to check the application for any peripheral device(s) used. Original Drive: Yaskawa L7B Series General Purpose Drive CIMR-L7B

Dimensions and installation holes differ between L7B and L1000A. Verifying the Installation Location of the Digital Operator When replacing the L7B drive, consider whether the new drive will need to have the digital operator mounted to the same location or if a different location is required. If the same location is important, please consider the mounting position of the digital operator when installing the new unit. Verifying Specialized Specifications Check to see if the L7B drive has a custom nameplate, or any other custom specifications. Verifying Main Circuit Lines (including ground) When replacing the L7B drive, be aware that the position of the main circuit terminal block wiring and wiring order will differ with the newer model. Consider how to rewire the terminal block or if different length cables are required. Verifying Main Circuit Terminal Block and Specifications When replacing the drive, be aware that the position of the terminals may not be the same shape or size in the newer model. Refer to the terminal layout to ensure a proper match.

Verifying Control Circuit Wiring When replacing the L7B drive, be aware that the position of the control circuit Control Circuit terminal block and wiring order will differ with the newer model. Consider how to rewire the terminal block or if different length cables are required. Refer to the terminal layout in the product instructions to ensure a proper match Software Software Parameter Verifying Custom Software Check the drive software you are currently using to see if it is a standard Yaskawa software. If youre not sure whether the software is standard or not, confirm the software number by contacting your Yaskawa representative. Verifying Parameter Settings Check the parameter settings in the drive you are currently using. Use this replacement guide to set the new parameters to match the current application. For specialized software or for parameters not covered in this replacement guide, contact your Yaskawa representative.
Option Card
Verifying Option Cards Option cards will need to be replaced with new option cards, as L1000A is not compatible with option cards used in L7B models.

Braking Resistor Check to see if the L7B drive currently used has a braking resistor installed. For L7B drives 3.7 kW and smaller using an ERF-type braking resistor, check the following: Verify the braking specifications match the equivalent L1000A replacement unit. See the Braking Resistor Installation Attachment section of this guide for specifications. Use only the braking resistor recommended by Yaskawa. Option & Other Peripherals If planning to use the same ERF-type braking resistor installed to L7B in the new L1000A drive and the cable is too short, replace the cable with a longer one only if the wire specifications are the same. Braking units If braking unit is used, it can simply be transferred over to L1000A as-is. For braking units 30 kW and below, braking transistor protection should be disabled in L1000A (L8-55 = 0). AC or DC Reactor See if the L7B has an AC or DC reactor that can be reused with L1000A Noise Filter If a noise filter is used, it can simply be used with L1000A as-is.
Thoroughly review the instruction manual included with the new drive. To request a catalog, product manual, pricing, or shipping dates, please call your local Yaskawa sales office or representative. For technical questions, support, or other related information, contact a Yaskawa representative.

Determines the delay time between the start of Position Lock and setting the brake control command in order to release the brake. Determines the delay time between reaching Zero Speed (S1-01) and resetting the brake control command in order to apply the brake. Sets the delay time after the Up/Down command is entered until the internal run command is set. Determines the delay time between shutting off the output of the drive and resetting the contactor control command to release the motor contactor. Sets the motor rated speed. *Slip compensation for leveling speed can be set separately for motoring and regenerative states. This can help improve the accuracy of leveling. Determined by the control method. Determines the speed to begin applying DC Injection (or Position Lock) when the drive is ramping to a stop.
