Instructions to Candidates
Complete your candidate details on the cover sheet provided. At the end of the examination use a treasury tag to attach your printouts to Page 2 of the cover sheet.
There are four activities in this examination paper totaling 80marks. The marks for the parts of tasks are shown in round brackets: e.g. (2). Read through the instructions on Page 2. Attempt ALL activities. Take breaks away from the computer from time to time. Label your printouts clearly as instructed in each task.
Instructions to candidates This paper consists of four activities. Work through the tasks in each activity in order. Do not spend too much time on each activity. The marks for each activity are as follows:

Case study
Activity 1- Using art/imaging and graphics software DO NOT SPEND TOO LONG ON THIS ACTIVITY Task AG1 Open a suitable Art package. Open the graphic Gifts.jpg. This shows two of the gift containers widely used by Gift Inspiration.
a) Select and crop an area from the graphic. It must include: The weighing scale The label SMEG The opened package on the right side (1) b) Resize the image by assigning the width as 400 pixels and height as 600 pixels. (1) c) The original image was captured at one of the Gift Inspiration warehouses. Using this information: I. Compose a suitable caption (1) II. Insert the caption in the top half of the picture; make sure the colour, size and position of the caption give maximum visibility. (2) d) There is a label with the caption SMEG I. Alter the picture so that the caption SMEG is no longer visible. Make sure the shading of the background is unchanged. (2) Replace SMEG with Gift and Hampers. Make sure the colour of text is red and the font size is 30pt. (2)

Task AG2 Open a new A4 document using word processing software: enter Tasks AG1 and AG2 in the header enter your name, candidate number and centre number in the footer of the document
a) Import your graphic AG1 into the document. It should occupy 60% of height of the page and should have the same aspect ratio as it had in the Art package. (1) b) The Gift Inspirations promotions Manager has suggested that the AG1 graphic would make a good full page background for a leaflet showing the goods and services provided within UK and around the world.

State why AG1, in its current state, would not make a good background. (1) State two operations you could perform on the original picture to make it usable as a background. (2)

c) Open the graphic logo .jpg on to a suitable art package with the intension of creating a company Logo. I. Crop the rose with the leaves. Paste the selected area on to a new art document. (2) II. Add a suitable caption. Resize the image 200 pixels by 200 pixels. Save it as AG2. (1) III. Import the graphic AG2 into the bottom of Activity1 word processing document.

Resave the word processing document as ACTIVITY 1. PRINT a copy of the document.
Activity 2 Using DTP/WP software Task DP1 Gift Inspiration Delivery service wants to produce a promotional leaflet. The leaflet will be one double-sided A4 sheet folded to give four A5 pages. It will be distributed along with gifts that are being delivered and in public places such as super markets and shopping malls. Your task is to design and produce the two inside pages of the leaflet. You will need graphics from the folder gift ideas. Open a new A4 landscape DTP/WP document: enter your name, candidate number, centre number and DP1 in the footer of the document save the document as DP1 (a) Create the two inside pages of the leaflet. (i) Format your page into two equal columns. (ii) Create a frame that occupies the width of the first column and is 4 cm high. (iii) Insert the text Gift ideas into the frame. (iv) Insert the company logo from the file LOGO into this frame. Make sure that the logo is completely visible. (1) (1) (1) (1)
(b) Identify a target audience for the promotional leaflet. Select content which would be appropriate for this group.The leaflet must contain: (i) a minimum of two graphics from the folder gift ideas in addition to the logo (ii) a minimum of two facts that give information about gift inspirations (you may select this information from the scenario) (2) (1)
(iii) a minimum of two facts that give information about the gift items

You may use this space to sketch a design for the rest of the inside of the leaflet. You do not need to submit your sketch design. There are no marks allocated for the sketched design.
(c) Complete the two inside pages of the leaflet. Use the facilities of your software to make the leaflet fit for purpose as a promotional leaflet. Consider: text flow manipulation of graphics: o size o layout (for example to allow text wrapping) formatting: o appropriate and consistent fonts o consistent paragraphs and justification (4)

(i) State, with a reason, who you think your target audience is. (1) (ii) Explain two features of your pages which would attract the target audience. (4) (b) Suggest two improvement you could make to the pages if you had more time. (2)
Activity 3 Using Web authoring software Task WA1 Gift inspiration maintains an effective website for their order and delivery services. However some of the web pages are still at the designing stage. The Home page too is still under construction. Your task is to produce the home page for the website. This page must be designed to be printed on a single side of A4 page. You will need graphics from the folder gift ideas
Open an A4 Landscape web page Enter your name and candidate number WA1 at the bottom of the page. Save the page as activity 3A
a. Create the web site home page using the activity 3A page. i. Create 3 frames or other division such as a table on top of the page, that occupies the width of the page and is 4 cm high. This division should contain 3 sections/columns (2) ii. Insert the title Gift Inspiration in to the middle section/ cell with appropriate text formatting suitable for a title. (2) iii. Resave the web page b. Open the image logo.jpeg from the gift ideas folder using any image processing software. i. Insert the image in logo.jpeg in to the left hand side section/cell created in part a ii. Insert the image logo1.jpeg in to the right hand side section/cell created in part a iii. Resave the web page.

c. Carefully consider the target audience and the purpose of the website.Create the rest of the main page using i. ii. Task WA2

e. use the 2nd row, 2nd column of the table to insert a thumbnail version of the image giftwrap.jpg or giftwrap2.jpg (The image should be opened with the original size when clicked on the image) (1) f. do appropriate page formatting to make the page look neater. g. Resave the web page.

Activity 4 Using Multimedia software Task MM1 You are required to create a multimedia presentation for Gift Inspiration to promote their business. The presentation will be run on LED screens in main cities and public places such as railway stations. You should create a four slide presentation which start with a Master Slide and followed by a Title slide and two other information slides. The expected contents of the slides are as follows. Master Slide Title Slide Other Slides - Gift Inspiration logo from the gift ideas folder & a Suitable caption - A suitable title, a picture & suitable sub titles to represent other slides - Titles, Images & relevant information use images provided in the gift ideas folder.
1. Use a suitable presentation software to create the master slide with, a. A LOGO b. Heading or the Presentation Save your presentation 2. Create a title slide with, a. A suitable title b. An Image c. Titles of other two slide as bulleted points d. Apply animation effects for each item you include Save your presentation 3. Create 3rd and 4th slides with the following information a. Task MM1 Open word processing software Create a new document Insert your name in header and current date in footer 1. Copy the title slide from the presentation into the document a. Apply a border around your slide b. Use a text box below the slide to explain any features that you have applied on the slide (1) 2. Apply slide transition to your presentation a. Run the presentation, and make a screenshot to view the transition effect you applied b. Copy the screenshot into your document c. Task MM2 Open a suitable audio editing software Import files Happy Birthday.mp3 and Jingle Bells .mp3 and do the following a. Remove first half of the Happy Birthday.mp3 which has very low sound level (1) b. Combine the edited sound file above with the Jingle Bells.mp3 (2) c. Name the edited sound file as AudioClip and get a screen shot of the edited file when it is opened in sound editing software d. Show a screen shot once you combine the two sound files (1) Import Audio Clip to your multimedia presentation in order to play it throughout the presentation.
