7. Federico Fellini in a December 1965 piece in The Atlantic, not currently online:

All art is autobiographical; the pearl is the oysters autobiography.

Art resides in the quality of doing; process is not magic.

Based on my own perception, I can say that you cannot make a high-quality art if you will do it like magic. What I mean is, doing the shortcuts, doing the easy ways, doing risky actions to achieve a specific goal. A goal which can genuinely be accomplished if an artist will give most of his hours, tremendous efforts, burning passion, perseverance, and if he is disciple in doing art. Art must not be done in a hurry. One of my friends told me this which made me realize that the process of an elite art must be done critically and logically. From then on, I always try my best to come up with a pleasing art. . . . process is not magic Just like any other tasks which are done manually, art is not exempted to this rule. You make art using your hands and different mediums available. Reality is where art resides. We are living in a world where witchcraft is not yet proved existing. After all, its always best to put ourselves and express ourselves in everything that we do because such magic does not exist.

All art is autobiographical; the pearl is the oysters autobiography.

Each and every one of us undergoes different obstacles in life that help us to become who we are today. We become strong because we already knew how a weak feels like. We become smart because we experienced being absurd. We become wise because we were once tricked and dont like to happen it again. What Im trying to say is that, art is a way to express what youve experienced, what you saw, what you felt and the like. Just like the oyster, its autobiography helped it to make its masterpiece, a pearl. The background of the oyster explains why and how it was able to make such masterpiece. That also goes with our artists; they come up with ideas based from what they experienced. They use art to express what they feel and I think they achieve satisfaction from it. Most artist base their creations from their past, which I think some people also do, not only in making art but in everything that they do.
