N211 NCM102RLE Health Problem Malnutrition Family Nursing Problems Inability to recognize the presence of malnutrition in a dependent family member due to lack of awareness. Inability to take proper action due to failure to comprehend the nature, magnitude and scope of the problem. Goal of Care .After nursing intervention, the families' nutritional condition is expected to improve after 6 months Objectives of Care After nursing intervention, the family will: - Be able to avail of food supplements provided by the health center and other related agencies to prevent malnutrition. - To be able to plan and prepare balanced meals for the family within a specified budget or allowance. -Be able to increase the quality and quantity of foods serve in family mambers -Increase overall health status of family members

Nursing Interventions
Establish rapport. assess/discuss the client's ablility and readiness to learn and previous knowledge r/t nutrition. signs and symptoms of malnourishment and its consequences among family members. Discuss with the family regarding food selection, management as well as preparation and eating habits of the family. Give health teaching regarding basic nutrition and proper handling of foods.

Resources Required
Material resources: Visual aids, example of food stuffs for demonstrating, preparation of low cost menus, supplies and equipment for cooking demonstration. Quality time and effort of the nurse and family members especially the mother. Expenses for teaching aids and transportation expense of the nurse.
