In mid-1993, a steering committee, which included James Wise, Arthur Valenzano, Calvin Seitz, Peggie Roland, Donald Hull, George Giese, William Gering, and Audrey Cimino, began the process of making the Community Foundation of Carroll County a reality.

Beginning with a gift of sixty thousand dollars from the Estate of Rosa B. Null, a Hampstead, Maryland resident, the Community Foundation has grown to 3.4 million dollars in endowments, operations funds, scholarships and funds managed for other community organizations. As your Community Foundation, we receive funds from individuals, businesses, and other community organizations whose purpose is to enhance and support the quality of life in this community. We are a tax-exempt organization under Section 501 (c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. All contributions are tax deductible to the maximum amount allowable for gifts to a public charity. This allows many individuals, through gifts and bequests, to establish permanent endowment funds within the confines of one large foundation or to develop new funding ideas for the benefit of Carroll County. Currently, there are more than six hundred Community Foundations across America. What they all share is a common mission - to help maximize the current and long-term impact of charitable activities within their communities, while providing donors with significant financial advantages, tax savings and recognition. It is no news to anyone that there are an overwhelming number of organizations and programs now desperately searching for funds. For people with a strong sense of community and personal commitment to make significant contributions to the community in which they live, the choices can be especially demanding. The Community Foundation of Carroll County can be the conduit for tax-advantaged charitable gifts from individuals and corporations in our community. Audrey S. Cimino is the Executive Director of the Community Foundation of Carroll County, Inc. Prior to assuming this position, she was a Vice President and Trust Business Development Officer for Carroll County Bank and Trust Company, now BBandT. Audrey is a member of the Maryland State Bar Association; her undergraduate and Law Degrees are from Essex Community College and The University of Baltimore. Audrey has served on the Board of Directors of a number of professional and local charitable organizations including University of Baltimore Board of Governors, Baltimore Estate Planning Council, Carroll County General Hospital, The Shepherds Staff, Voices for Children, The Literacy Council, The Vagabond Players, and Association of Development Officers of Carroll County. Agency Funds: 4-H Therapeutic Riding, ARC of Carroll County Carroll County Public Library Carroll Hospice Change, Inc.
