Ang Duyan ni Maria takes care of 54 kids, 11 infants and 11 house parents. Occasionally, they receive donations from different organizations. Duyan ni Maria started as a shelter for abused women and their children. Later they also supported abandoned children. Now, the foundation sends the children to school. This part of the community houses 150 families. The Day Care Centre is in the middle of the community, next to a permanently used basketball court. During morning and afternoon lessons children outside the classroom can often be seen peering in to see what is being taught and to hear and join in with the singing each day. It would be wonderful to see this well run Day Care Centre be transformed into somewhere safe, comfortable and colorful for the children of Sitio Wella to learn, and to be a beacon in the centre of the village.
