AWARDS NIGHT TO BE A DELIGHT!

If you're wondering who does the crucial, behind the scenes work of the Sierra Club in San Diego, join us for the chapter's Annual Awards Ceremony where you can meet the people who make it all happen.
Rub elbows with the individuals who prepare comments to public officials, plan the wonderful outings program and design and carry out our conservation campaigns. We will honor not only our own most active members for 2002, but recognize those in the community who have worked for the preservation of the county in the public sector. In the past we've honored elected officials, professional journalists, eco-friendly businesses, student conservationists and grassroots activists. If you admire someone in the chapter or community and would like to see them recognized, submit their name and a brief description of their accomplishments to the chapter office before March 10th. For nomination forms please visit our chapter website at: http://sandiego.sierraclub.org/awards/, or Cheryl will email it to you. Call her at 619-299-1743. This year's event will be held Friday, April 4th at the TierraSanta Recreation Center, 11238 Clairemont Mesa Blvd. from 6 to 9 pm. Please bring a favorite dish for the potluck dinner starting at 6 pm. The chapter will provide water, coffee, tea and juice. Please bring your own non-disposable plate and utensils to limit unnecessary waste. Entertainment will be provided by the eleven-member youth band of Bird Singers from the Campo Indian Reservation led by Paul Cuero. Their chanting rhythms promise to slip you into a long forgotten world and stir up visions of the distant past. After the awards are presented, we will have a brief slide show

"Fragments" depicting some of the changes happening around San Diego County and the consequences of inaction. A requested donation of $4.00 will be collected at the door from friends and visitors to defray our costs. Directions: Take Clairemont Mesa Blvd. east from I-15. At one mile you cross through Santo Road. Continue another mile to the Tierrasanta Recreation Center entrance on the left (this is not a lighted intersection, so watch for the sign). The ceremony will be on the ground floor of the swimming pool building.
