Opened on March 25, 1965, the Hilton Washington combines the amenities of a grand hotel with those of a
sprawling in-town resort. Situated on seven acres overlooking the exclusive Dupont Circle residential area, the hotel
is in a conveniently central location, close to the heart of the city's governmental, business and cultural interests.
The Hilton Washington is the site of many of the city's largest meetings, at which the president often speaks. A
frequent visitor to the hotel, the president is afforded special accommodations for safety as well as comfort. In a
specially designed room, The Presidential Holding Room, the president relaxes as he prepares to address gatherings
in the adjacent International Ballroom, one of Washington's largest.
