FEF 1DF 01 Extended French - 9e anne

Description of Course:

This course emphasizes the expansion of students oral communication, reading, and writing skills through
the study of themes that reflect their interests. Students will apply their knowledge of French in discussions,
debates, dramatizations, and oral presentations. Students will read and write in a variety of genres (e.g.
poems, articles, brochures) and study at least one short novel intended for a French-speaking audience.

*** Please note that all students must be present in class the week prior to the formal exam period as we
are conducting written and oral exams during class time that week in order to accommodate the
evaluation of all four strands of the Extended French course in a timely manner.

COURSE EXPECTATIONS


Students are expected to arrive on time for class with the necessary materials (text, notebook, extra
paper, writing tools).
Keeping up to date with day-to-day work is the easiest path to success.
If work is missed due to absence, it is the responsibility of the student to seek missed items
All students are expected to be present on test days. Only students with a verified absence for missing
a test will be permitted to write the test on their first day back to class (or during MSIP as arranged with
the teacher).
If there are any difficulties with course material, please speak to the teacher immediately!
Students are expected to use class time wisely to complete assigned tasks.
Students should use French language skills whenever possible in class.


PLEASE NOTE: Computer translating programs are NOT permitted. These programs are considered a form
of plagiarism. Only student-generated work will be considered for evaluation purposes. There are several
excellent resources that students may use in lieu of a translating program that will be discussed in class.

*** Student success is directly related to good work habits, attentive listening, following instructions and
asking questions. By following these basic guidelines, you are sure to enjoy a successful semester. Good
