Servers
Service Overview
TCA8000 and TCA8500 Timing
Servers are 19-inch rack-mountable
Primary Reference Source (PRS)
and Primary Reference Clock
(PRC) that provide superior time
stamping accuracy and redundant
configurability. The TCA8000 and
TCA8500 accept a GPS signal from
a variety of manufacturers antennas,
and provide antenna power via an
attached radio frequency (RF) cable.
These servers accept a timing signal
from timing sources such as GPS, or
BITS. The TCA8000 and TCA8500
provide superior hardware-based time
stamping accuracy and redundant
congurability.
Service Description
Juniper Networks TCA8000 and TCA8500 Timing Servers are primary reference
sources that provide highly accurate timing that is critical for mobile networks. Based on
IEEE1588-2008 Precision Time Protocol (PTP), these servers provide time distribution
across IP and legacy infrastructures to numerous timing clients. These appliances
implement hardware based time stamping to provide wirespeed PTP with unparalleled
accuracy, while decreasing vulnerability to distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.
The TCA8000 line of timing servers use GPS and a local oscillator to deliver Stratum 1
timing reference and exceptional holdover.
Because they are an integrated platform, the TCA8000 line replaces previous generations
of equipment at a lower total cost of ownership. The network timing distribution
capabilities of the TCA8000 line reduces the need for expensive Cesium timing elements
in the network. The TCA8500 has a Rubidium internal oscillator for standalone or central
office deployments. TCA8000 and TCA8500 appliances represent industry firsts such as
ITU Stratum clocking over IP networks and IP-based redundancy.
