Happy New Year!!

Begin 2015 With a Clean Slate!

Help Fill Josephs Closet

Each year we make resolutions to

change things in our lives... make
better choices, mend broken
relationships, forgive those who
have wronged us, set new
priorities, unburden our
lives...you get the picture.
I view the new year as an
opportunity to begin again with a
clean slate, a chance for a fresh
start. God has given me a new
beginning so far as my physical
health is concerned. And I am so
very grateful for a clean slate in
that arena. But now I have other
work to do!
I have trouble with a part of my
life which prevents me from being
able to get that clean slate
attitude. I, along with others who have lived in the same house
for many years, have accumulated a whole lot of stuff. It didnt
happen overnight, but has been growing to the point that it has
become a problem. I have come to realize that my STUFF is
getting in the way. I long for a clean slate. Its time to take
action!
If youve ever felt the same way, and might consider joining with
others in creating a lifestyle change that frees up some space in
your life, physically, mentally, spiritually, or emotionally, I have
an idea for you!
I have gathered several copies of Simple Abundance available
for you to look over before you commit to being part of a group.
It is a book of daily reflections to help you on your way,
providing motivation and guidance if your resolve weakens, as it
does with all resolutions. Feel free to read the introduction to
see if its a fit for you.

I was hungry and you fed me,

I was thirsty and you gave me a drink,
I was homeless and you gave me a

room,
I was shivering and you gave me

clothes,
I was sick and you stopped to visit,
I was in prison and you came to me.

~Jesus
How do you see God guiding us, enabling us, as a
congregation, to respond to these words? How
should we, as followers of Jesus, reach out to those
around us and fill the needs in our community?
Thanks to your faithful support, our Someone
Cares! Community Meal, which takes place on the
second Sunday of each month has gained firm
footing. And now, we will be establishing a clothes
closet for those who need the bare essentials.
Josephs Closet will be located in Room 8 of the
education wing. Unlike other clothing outlets in the
community, we will offer clothing without cost to
those in need.

If there is interest, a group will begin with the new year. Give it
some thought and check out the book. Books will be available
Sunday, Dec. 28th or in the office after that. Day and time to
meet and how often will be decided by the group.

What we need:
gently used, clean clothes and outerwear
your time - for sorting, organizing, and running
the shop
clothing racks & shelves (preferably for free!)
