crowds. This cruise combines swimming in the
lagoon at Koh Hong with great sightseeing in PhangNga Bay. There are approximately 200 islands around
Krabi coastline that lay on the east side of Phuket.
Many islands are small rocky outcrops, seen as if
ferupting from the surrounding sea. Unlike PhangNga, the waters at Koh Hong are clear green and
the beaches are beautiful, many with intricate cave

dramatic karst topography and abundance of

the big headed ghost cave where a human skull,
larger that normal size, was found and cave was
named after that. Some of the stalactite formations
are also of special interested here as they bend
radically towards the light of the main cave entrance.
There are actually three openings to this great
chamber, the highest of which offers an unspoiled
view of the mangroves limestone crags and sea that
has changed little since the time this was home of
a ceremonial site for ancient seafaring people.

Canoeing

Canoeing Gypsy Cave Trang

Tham Le Khao Kob is an ecotourism and adventure
tourism attraction, concealed under the huge single
limestone mountain surrounded by a stream running
through it. Inside the cave of Tham Le Khao Kob, a
significant number of stalagmites and stalactites are
seen. There are also other grottos in the cave such as
Tham Khon Than, Tham Chao Sao or Tham Rak
Sai. While visiting the cave, it is necessary to take a
boat ride along the stream and alternate it with walking

to see the beauty of the stalagmites and stalactites.

The most exiting point of the cave that impresses all
tourists is the fact that one must lay flat on the boat
to get through a 350 meters long tunnel. In the middle,
the cave looks like the backbone of a dragon. Some
people believe that passing through this hole is an
auspicious activity similar to going under the belly of
a dragon. After the canoeing, you will have time to relax
at the natural hot spring.

The Mangrove & Natural Life

Right behind Jao Fah Pier in Krabi town lays one

of Krabis richest natural wonders: kilometers of
pristine Mangrove forest, home to an astonishing
variety of birds which have drawn birdwatchers
from all over the world. While cruising in a
longtail boat or a sea canoe, keep your eyes
open for species such as Gurneys Pittas, Brownwinged Kingfishers, Flame backs, Pacific Reef
Eagles and Dollarbirds.

Nowhere but in mangroves can one find such an

astonishing overlap of marine and terrestrial species.
The mangrove trees walk out of the water and grow
roots upward, seeds that germinate before they fall
from their parent tree. Fishes hop about in the mud
and climb trees and monkeys eat crabs. While
exploring the mangrove, Khao Khanap Nam cant
be missed. These limestone pinnacles are steeped
in local legend and are the very symbols of the town.
It was here that two ceremonial swords (Krabi) were
found according to the Phra Nang myth and it is
from this find that the town took its name based on
its two-sword coat of arms.

The Thai Culture

Wat is the thai word for temple, most sacred

places in Thailand. Temples provide first
education opportunities for young men in Krabi
who entered as novice monks and this made of
Krabi a permanent settlement place long before
the town itself was established. Following one of
the buddhist principles, most Thai people often
go to visit the monks to offer them food and
flowers, in an act call merits making: give first to
receive back.

Wat Bang Rieng Temple

Wat Bang Rieng is about a one hour drive from Ao
Nang and is one of the most beautiful and peaceful
temples in Thailand. Located on a mountain top
and surrounded by lush tropical forest, very few
tourists find their way to this temple, while many
Thais come here to give alms and receive a blessing
from the monks. Walk around at leisure to experience
the serene atmosphere, and even to take part in a
simple ceremony performed by the monks. During
this half day tour, you will get a good view and

The Thai Culture

introduction to Buddhism. Our special selected

guide will explain and teach you about this peaceful
and interesting philosophy. After spending time at
the temple, we will travel back towards Ao Nang,
stopping at an orchid farm on the way and at the
charming Krabi Fishing park, with fantastic limestone
Karst scenery for a lake-side lunch.

Thai Culture & Merit Making

An intrinsic part of the Thai way of life is making
merit. Throughout their lives, Thai people strongly
believe in karmic giving, the act of regularly
providing aid, assistance and donations to bring
happiness and a peaceful life to others. By doing so,
they believe that they earn good will, gaining the
strength needed to overcome any obstacles or
misfortunes that life may present and accumulating
merits that will help them to be in a peaceful place
when life draws to a close. On this very special tour,
we will spend the day among the local Krabi people.
We will visit the morning market, the temple and
have breakfast with the Thais in the Thai way. Visit
Koh Klang, which is only 5 minutes by boat from

Krabi town centre, as this is truly where you will

see Krabi dated as it was before the arrival of the
mass tourism in modern days .Typical village lifestyle
and arts such as batik painting, rice farming and
wooden handicrafts; you will experience this
unspoiled beauty of the Krabi seascape and the slow
village fishing life where times appear to have stood
still. Included in the tour price is the donation of
food for the monk and tropical Thai fruit or Thai
herbal planting.

Tiger Cave Or Wat Tham Seua

Wat Tham Seua (Tiger Cave Temple), 5km from
Krabi Town, is a small temple built inside a long
shallow limestone cave, surrounded by natural forest.
The temple, one of the south most famous meditation
centres, takes its name from a stone formation nearby
which resembles a tigers claw. There are about 250
monks and nuns who live within the temple
compound today. Two staircases wind up the
limestone cliffs. The first one leads with 1,237 steps
to the top of the mountain offering a superb 360

the staircase indicate how many steps you have
already climbed and a monkey family lives around
the stairs. Reaching the top will reward you with
an incredible view and there is a huge sitting Buddha,
a golden pagoda and a few other small constructions.
The second one (130 steps) leads into a valley where

Tha Phom
Tha Phom is the name of a canal famous for its
crystal clear waters. Also known as Klong Song
Nam, which translated means canal of two waters,
Tha Phom is located 34 km far from the provincial
capital of Krabi Town. The unusual colour of Tha
Phoms pristinely clear water is the result of seawater
meeting freshwater during high tides, resulting in
the mixture of
salt and fresh water in the canal.
Despite being in the middle of a mangrove swamp,
the water quality at Tha Phom is not affected by

mud, as it would usually be the case. The natural

forest trail of Tha Phom has a total length of about
700 metres and takes around 45 minutes to complete.
There are boards along the way at Tha Phom to
provide explanations on the relationships between
the different species of animals and plants in this
specific eco-system. At the end of the Tha Phom
trail there is a lookout tower where visitors can get
a birds eye view of the nature park.

Khlong Thom Hot Spring

Also known as Namtok Ron Khlong Thom, is located
at the Klong Thom district of Krabi province, about
forty kilometres south of Krabi town. What makes
this hot spring different from others is that in
addition to pools of hot springs, the hot water
cascades fall down in the form of a waterfall,
emptying into the cool stream below. Klong Thom
Hot Waterfall is full of mineral salts that help
rejuvenate your body and ease a number of ailments
including rheumatism, sciatica and skin complaints.
The water temperature of 38C - 40C makes this
place an ideal destination for a hydro-therapy bath
and relaxation under the blue sky.

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park

Khao Phanom Bencha National Park is the only
national park in Krabi province that is located on
the mainland. The park has a total area of 50.12
square kilometers and covers parts of the Mueang,
Ao Luek and Khoa Phanom districts. The plan to
protect Khao Phanom Bencha was started in 1979
when Nakhon Si Thammarat Regional Forest Office
conducted a survey of this area as preparation for
declaring it a national reserved forest. While survey
was being done, the Krabi Provincial Forest Office
emphasized the important role the area played in
its fertile forest and beautiful natural scenery. Based
on these reports and their first-hand knowledge, the

Forest office declared Khao Phanom Bencha the

30th national park of Thailand on July 9th, 1981.
The park is home for a wide variety of wild and
plant life. The parks gorgeous waterfall, caves, cliffs,
brooks and natural scenery are one of the most
famous tourist attractions in Krabi province.

area disappearing into the limestone rocks
underneath the mountains on their journey to the
sea. The source of the stream is Nam Phut Cave

Mountain). This was formerly the territory of wild
elephants until people moved in and settled sown
at the area. They cleared the forest and took
possession of the land for agriculture until only the
stream remained. The park was established on 30th
September 1998.
