CHAPTER 3

Methodology
This chapter presents the description of the research design and why such method is best
suited for the study. It also contains detailed information on how the research were conducted,
how the data were gathered, the setting off the study, the research instruments that were used,
sampling procedures and the statistical treatment of data to be utilized in this study.
Research Design
This study used descriptive research method to describe the relationship of a father and a
daughter and the desirable and undesirable that that are being perceive by both side. Tarlac State
University Graduate school (2002) handbook states that in descriptive research, variables are
studied as they exist in their setting. The purpose of the descriptive studies is to observe, describe
and document aspects of the situation. According to Tan (2006) descriptive design answers
questions and satisfies curiosity about certain phenomenon at the time of the study. Dizon (2002)
states that descriptive study is focused on the present condition-what is. It is the gathering data
from present of existing conditions.
Research Locale and Respondents of the Study
The respondents of this study are 30 fathers and 30 daughters. The respondents were chosen
through purposive sampling technique. The research locale of the study will be conducting in the
entire Province of Tarlac.

Sampling Procedure and Sample Population

Purposive sampling method was utilized in this study were the researchers main goal for this
technique is to focus on particular characteristics of a population that are of interest which will
best enable the respondents to answer the researchers questions.
Data Gathering Instruments
This study used an open ended questionnaire of describing the relationship as the main
instrument. The questionnaire was developed, constructed and guided using related literature and
studies. A follow up interview was conducted to gather an accurate data needed for the study.
The interviews are structured and guided in order to get the best possible answers in tandem with
the research purposes. Through interview method, as for the researchers, association with pre
determined questions were strictly observed to ensure that responses are closely in line with the
topic at hand since the respondents are allowed to express freely their own thoughts and view
point without any input or help from the researchers to avoid any kinds of bias. This method is
used to enable the researchers to maximize their understanding of the respondents perspective.
Data Gathering Procedure
The researchers formulated an open ended questionnaire that contains the relationship of a father
and daughter and conduct a follow up interview based on the statements of the problem of the
study, after that, the researchers used purposive sampling technique to acquire the suitable
respondents. The researchers set an appointment with the respondent and meet them personally
in order to present to them the information regarding the study. Also, the researchers utilized
electronic mail to extend the questionnaire to the respondents.

The answers were compiled and organized based on the findings of data that were tabulated for
their easy interpretation and presentation.
Data Processing Analysis
The researchers employed simple statistical treatment to be able to compute and tabulate the
result of data that are gathered.
Specifically, frequency distribution and percentage were employed. This means that the sum of
their responses were divided by the populations and the multiplied by one hundred (100).
This can be done using this formula:
P=F/N X 100
F=Frequency
P=Percentage
N=Total number of Respondents
